After describing itself in its most recent full-year results as “TheWorks.co.uk plc is a leading UK multi-channel value retailer of arts and crafts, stationery, toys, games and books”, now from the company an “Update regarding online proposition”-titled announcement. This follows its half-year results in January having included “we are working with our third-party fulfilment provider to ensure that together we deliver a solution that will rectify the challenges impacting our online channel”, so now how’s that “solution” looking?
Most recently writing on company now describing itself as “the UK’s leading specialist retailer of affordable, screen-free activities for the whole family” The Works (WRKS), in September with the shares down to 50p I questioned why’s it like for like sales numbers which dare not speak their name and concluded I now await for half-year ending 2nd November “positive trading” detail before re-considering the shares from avoid. The shares most recently closed at 40.9p and what of them currently further lower on the back of a “Half-year trading update” and “Directorate Change”?
Arts, crafts, toys, books and more value retailer TheWorks.co.uk (WRKS) has issued an “AGM Trading Statement” commencing that it “has seen positive trading” and including that it is “well-positioned” for “further strategic and financial progress. The board remains confident in delivering FY26 profit in line with market expectations of pre-IFRS 16 Adjusted EBITDA of £11.0m”. How ‘positive’ is this, with the shares currently responding approaching 6% lower at 50p?
‘Value retailer of books, arts and crafts, stationery, toys and games’ TheWorks (WRKS) states that it “is pleased to announce the admission… to trading on AIM, a market operated by the London Stock Exchange”. Some good news for the AIM casino (Oops) ‘world’s leading growth market’, then?
Previously writing on arts and crafts, stationery, toys and books retailer TheWorks (WRKS), in November with the shares down to 28.4p I noted consumer spending and competition concerns suggesting its net Christmas outcome not looking promising and to avoid/sell. The shares most recently closed at 27p and today a “FY24 Interim Results and Christmas Trading Update” announcement.
Previously writing on arts and crafts, stationery, toys and books retailer TheWorks (WRKS), towards the end of August with the shares falling below 30p I concluded to continue to avoid ahead of half-year detail including with costs and consumer spending headwinds. The shares most recently closed at 40p…but what of them currently down to 28.4p on the back of a “half-year trading update”?
Arts and crafts, stationery, toys and books retailer TheWorks (WRKS) has announced results for its year ended 30th April 2023 headlined “Resilient performance delivered in FY23 against challenging backdrop. Well-positioned to capitalise on opportunities from execution of strategy and deliver growth in FY24”. The shares are currently though down below 30p in response, so which looks the more reasonable assessment?
