Despite the upcoming Love Island series and the launch of ITVX, ITV shares remain a yawn for me

It is now over a year since I wrote about ITV plc (ITV). I am trying to think if I have watched the channel since then but certainly, judging by the over 40% share price fall since, it was wise to observe last May that “if you don’t own it…you can chill…overall like the majority of TV in my opinion a bit of a yawn”. Have I changed my mind at any level today?

ITV

Edge, Sir Peter (a fine upstanding sort of chap who went to Cambridge don't you know?) and ITV

I don’t like being bullied – even indirectly by clairvoyant PR guys. So when Tom Winnifrith reported taking a call regarding my pieces on Edge Performance VCT (EDGI and EDGH) and the one director on its Board, Sir Peter Bazalgette, to be facing re-election by grateful shareholders (no sniggering at the back) – if, that is, Edge ever gets around to reconvening its AGM which was adjourned way back on 31 August 2021, some two and a half months ago – I took a trip to Companies House. Toff ITV NED Edward Bonham-Carter will no doubt wish to overlook this as well as Sir Peter is just a jolly fine chap and not some dirty oik.

Edward Bonham-Carter of ITV Fails to Defend Sir Peter Bazalgette over Edge scandal as he bluffs a reply to Nigel

The toffs always look after each other, whether it is at Westminster or in the world of big business. In Britain 2021 there are no standards. All sense,or pretence, of decency has gone. On Friday Nigel wrote to ITV (ITV) asking very legitimate questions about the outside business interests at Edge VCT of its chairman Sir Peter Bazalgette. For his efferts we had a psychic PR man claim - falsely - that he had his facts wrong without being able to name one such error. Now the patrician senior NED at ITV, Edward Bonham-Carter, has replied to Nigel.

Is Carolyn McCall fit to lead ITV after Piers Morgan vindication on ghastly Meghan outburst?

This morning, OFCOM has ruled that the remarks made by Piers Morgan on GMB about the ghastly Princess Meghan were all perfectly fair. I should say so. What he said is what most of us felt about this narcissistic fantasist and her dope of a husband. OFCOM says Morgan is entitled to an opinion and that the programme showed full balance. On all the complaints made against him by some 57,000 souls, including Meghan herself, he was cleared. So where does this leave Carolyn McColl, ITV’s CEO?

The Biggest Footsie Faller Doesn't Deserve it, as the Covid Effect Should Help Not Hinder

Hello, Share Takers. There was a painful drop for most shares at the week’s start. The biggest Footsie faller was ITV plc (ITV). The reason put forward for the lack of ITV support is that advertisers will lose confidence in bigger sales as they face the economic consequences of a barrage of new virus cases. And so they’ll hold back on national advertising.

ITV

How am I feeling about ITV?

Before I review today’s first quarter update from ITV (ITV), a few words on the AGM update from SIG (SHI) which I last wrote up in late March HERE.

amount owed to taxman rose from 319k at 30/6/24 to 861 a year later. Given how it has now defaulted on payment plan I think my guess that it is a 7 figure sum is an educated onei agree suspension is subjective. But TM1 would not itself go bust if recyclus did so it is not a pending clarification of ITS final position time yet.

MNTL puts out a RNS using the Adam Reynolds keyboard which you think covers an outstanding winding up petition for "a seven figure sum" (your guess) that it can give no certainty it will see off via an external funder.... and yet you don't believe the shares should be suspended pending clarification of the company's financial position?Whatever you say. You've called for suspension elsewhere over much less.

JRB is ok but personally not the best, to me at least. There are others such as Andrew Maguire, Peter Schiff, Alasdair Macleod who I think have a much clearer view of what is going on, and explain it in a fare more concise way.Sometimes it's not all about charts, but fundamentals. The charts may look bearish for both gold and silver currently in the short term, but if the fundamentals come to the fore with what is actually happening out there, runaway US and world debt, sticky inflation, rising bond yields (they are bullish for gold contrary to popular opinion) and general world disorder, along with two wars, plus the fact that gold and silver miners themselves are throwing off record amounts of cash, it beggars belief that both PM's and the miners will not eventually go on a very bullish run.

I will not argue with your first statement. for the evidence is clear. Yes of course cash spent on capex cannot be used to pay a div but as it moves thru cashflow statement not P&L it does not affect retained earnings. So if AMRQ makes a $200m profit in the 18 months to dec 27 (it could spend $150m on building BA and still pay a div with spare cash and as it would then have retained earnings of $97m. I was only suggesting a nominal 1p per share to start with (so a cost of $6m)

Well, I am a moron then because I assumed the folding cash for asset capex would come out of actual profits in a rush over a couple of years maybe. However it is presented on paper, I thought the actual cash would diminish rapidly leaving less to distribute to shareholders.

Of course they will but you are confusing P&L and cashflow statement. capex is on the latter. so let us say between july 1 2026 and end 2027 PTP is $200m. $100m can go on capex on building BA mine. that capex is then depreciated over 15 years or whatever LOM is in 2028 onwards P&L but is not a hit on 2027 P&L so does not affect retained earnings
