Wafers, Wafers Everywhere - and Not a Share to Dump.
Hello Share Changers. I seem to remember that Uncle Tom doesn’t particularly like IQE (IQE) a firm which has, once or twice, been described as the new Arm Holdings (ARM)

Hello share mates. I'm on the road at the moment. This means I'm having awful trouble getting this daily report to you. We forget this is still a new technology. There is still a long way to go before the Internet actually saves us effort, instead of causing it.
Hello Share Smashers. There’s a techno firm I rather like. In some ways it’s a smaller version of Arm (arm) whose gizmos turn up in most mobile phones and other computery stuff. The name is IQE (IQE). It makes wafers for computers, but too my shame I’m not sure what wafers are. Except the ice cream kind.

Hello Share Smackers. As I write this modest little column, my IQE (IQE) shares have leapt on the day by 12%. This is jolly good because I've been ambivalent about this investment.
Post recent interim results from one of my tips of the year, Creston plc (CRE), the following updates on how my three selections have performed to date.
Having on Wednesday written on the recent dealings of IQE plc (IQE) directors with Equities First Holding LLC and on the same day contacted both the company and its Nomad, Canaccord Genuity, emphasising that further information should be provided and pointing to the questions my article raised, I have had no direct response from either, but note a 12:53pm Thursday announcement “to provide… further information”. The following reviews.
Earlier today on this website, Tom Winnifrith noted the additional disclosure provided by cloudBuy plc on its Chairman’s “security for a loan facility”, the description of which has now changed to a “sale and repurchase agreement which Mr Duncan entered into with Equities First Holdings LLC”. Like Nigel Somerville with cloudBuy, I hold shares in IQE plc (IQE) and am arguably doing myself few favours writing this, but given IQE directors also announced recent dealings with Equities First, they too now need to step up to the disclosure plate…
By next week it is more than likely that Quindell (QPP) shares will be suspended as the Equities First Scandal reaches boiling point as I explain again in today’s BearCast. That begs questions about IQE and IGas.
Leading global supplier of advanced wafer products and services to the semiconductor industry, IQE (IQE) has announced results for a first half of the 2014 calendar year impacted by “a significant inventory correction in the wireless industry and the translational effect of a strengthening of the sterling exchange rate against the US Dollar”, though adding that “destocking was concluded during Q2 and customers are forecasting an upbeat second half”.
IQE (IQE) has announced in a trading statement that revenue was lower but that “a combination of efficiency gains, economies of scale, and sales mix has improved profitability “in the first half of 2014 and that it “is confident that the group remains on track to achieve its expectations for the full year”. On that basis the shares, at 20.75p offered, the shares are a buy.
Pride of the sheep shaggers IQE (IQE) published annual results on Friday which (together with the fees it banks for publishing such notes) has triggered researcher for hire Edison to publish a bullish note.
IQE (IQE) has announced results for the 2013 calendar year, noting that its establishment of strong supply routes to all of the major chip companies has helped it deliver continued growth despite some significant downstream inventory corrections and that, for 2014, it “remains confident of achieving full year earnings expectations and strong cash flow”.
Hello share fans: As soon as I sold some Lloyds Group (LLOY) and some IQE (IQE), Sod's Law kicked in. Both of these pesky stocks rose. Only slightly, but as I sold quite a few shares, it was significant loss.
