Hello, Share Jumpers. Years ago, before useful comparison websites, I used to spend hours getting quotes for my car and house insurance. One outfit that was always among the cheapest was a new firm called Hastings (HSTG). It also seemed to be breaking away from the stuffy appearance of insurance firms in those days.

Not sure the distinction between private and public ownership makes much difference.The uk is certainly not producing top quality Management in either the public or the private sector.However without actually living in another country not sure how we are comparing.The mid terms in my view did not reject Trump.When latinos who had voted for him in droves suddenly found they were being deported in droves found they were being deported in droves decided it was not a good idea to vote republican.The same was true for voters hit in the pocket.

There's still activity at the chunk end - house up our street sold in 2 weeks, went to sealed bids over £1.75m, needed gutting. Another (large) 4 bed semi went to a bidding war at £1.5m.

I note that new housing developments around Oxford have stalled and are being mothballed.The Barton estate is an example. There are partly built blocks there, complete with scaffolding, now fenced off.I’d speculate that they won’t be completed for a few years.

That's nonsense Mayfairman - the basic tenent of economics is the supply of money chasing the same, or fewer goods. Pretty obvious to anyone really. You see something in the shop for £100 but everyone can afford £200 for it - ergo the price will go up. Inflation is purely too much money chasing too few goods.So, Tom is 100% correct.

Here on the edge of the Yorkshire dales it seems the property class that is going down rather dramatically is mobile homes on the holiday parks - they are almost unsellable now.
