Character Group – emphasises current year projected improvement, but how likely is it to meet expectations?

Designer, developer and international distributor of toys, games and giftware Character Group (CCT) has issued a “Trading update” including that it’s “projected… the group’s revenue for the year as a whole to be in line with last year’s full year outcome… due to the mix and enhancements within our product portfolio, group profits (before tax and highlighted items) are projected to more than double”. The shares are currently up to 245p in response, but what about that comparing to above 320p in August last year?

CCT

Character Group – full-year results, how likely this year is its expected improvement?

Most recently on designer, developer and international distributor of toys, games and giftware Character Group (CCT), at the start of October with the shares down to 275p I concluded suggesting to remain cautious at least ahead of some meaningful current year trading news flow and to still avoid. The shares most recently closed at 263p and what about them currently below 245p on the group’s year ended 31st August 2025 results announcement?

CCT

Character Group – trading update, how much “optimism” on trading to really be looking ahead with?

Designer, developer and international distributor of toys, games and giftware Character Group (CCT) has issued a “Trading Update & NED Appointment” announcement including that it “expects the group’s audited adjusted profit before tax for the financial year to be at least £1.0m” and that it “looks to the year ahead with optimism, and expects the adjusted profit forecast to increase when compared to the year ended August 2025”. So what about a current share price response to 275p, approaching 4% lower?

CCT

Character Group – interims, now only stating on the full-year “confident.. will be profitable” as it cuts dividend by over 60%

Most recently writing on designer, developer and international distributor of toys, games and giftware Character Group (CCT), last month with the shares down towards 240p I questioned whether it was seemingly likely profit decline just due to tariffs uncertainty and concluded to still avoid. The shares most recently closed at 255p and what of them currently falling to 240p on the back of half-year results from the company?

CCT

Character Group – “withdrawing the market guidance” blaming tariffs, but what about the already “challenging” trading conditions?

Designer, developer and international distributor of toys, games and giftware Character Group (CCT) has issued a “Trading Update” including that it expects to report in mid-May results for its half-year ended February 2025 that trading results will be in line with market expectations and concludes that it “continues to have a strong balance sheet with healthy cash balances and the board is confident that it can ride out this storm. As we gain a clearer picture of the global economic landscape emerging, we will update shareholders further”. So what about a share price, already down from 340p less than a year ago, currently more than 6% further down in response towards 240p?

CCT

Character Group – expects “to be in line with current market expectations”, but how creditable is that?

Designer, developer and international distributor of toys, games and giftware Character Group (CCT) has issued a trading update including that it “expects profitability (before highlighted items) for the current financial year ending 31 August 2025 to be in line with current market expectations” and “customer previews of our 2025 ranges have been very successful to date, and we are confident that the ranges will perform well”. So strong financial performance progress this year then?

CCT

Character Group – full-year trading recovery “in line with current market expectations”, Buy

Designer, developer and international distributor of toys, games and giftware Character Group (CCT) has issued a trading update including that it “expects its adjusted profit before tax for the financial year ended 31 August 2024 to be in line with current market expectations” and that “initial sales of products for the Christmas '24 season are showing encouraging signs”. So, how encouraging are those from a 280p share price?

CCT

Character Group – a Buy?

In the current tough macroeconomic environment, a company ‘anticipating’ exceeding expectations is particularly interesting but the shares should still be approached with some caution – the ‘anticipation’ still has to be delivered and how creditable even such a trading performance is, clearly, depends on how demanding the expectations were in relation to the valuation. However, here the expectations were already for clear improvement from the prior year and there looks reasons for confidence on delivery. Together with the valuation, that looks to make shares in Character Group (CCT) a Buy.

CCT

Character Group – stronger second half ‘in line with expectations’, but what does it mean financially?…

Toys, games and giftware group Character (CCT) has issued a trading update including that it is “pleased to report that, in line with the board's predictions, the business has performed more strongly in the second half and the group expects to report full year underlying profitability in line with current market expectations”. So what of this and a share price currently 3% higher at 275p?

Barry says "if this trade unwinds it does completely crash the economy" as if there is a way to avoid it. By some measures the biggest bubble the world economy has ever seen cannot be kept inflated indefinitely, nor can it be made to deflate slowly and gently float down. Or at least that has never been seen with the biggest bubbles the world has ever seen previously. Interesting times ahead.

Please produce some data to back up your claim that the government by which you mean the Bank of England as the government has no control over the money supply, is printing money. What is increasing, is it M1, M2 or M3 and by how much? I strongly suspect that the inflation we are seeing today is input cost inflation, largely caused by the increase in energy costs as a result of the war started by the orange faced idiot and his puppet master Netanyahu. Energy costs are pervasive, influencing every aspect of the economy and your suggestion of reducing the taxes on energy is populist nonsense. Would you have the government borrowing even more money than it is now, or dare I say it, printing money?

Benefits increases of 3.9%. public sector pay increases of 3.3%. 4.1% increase in minimum wage.I have no idea where some inflation comes from?Though of course all these people have to choose between heating and eating.

Money printing schmoney printing, what you say makes no logical sense. Inflation can have many causes and money printing is certainly one of them, but neither the Federal Reserve nor the Bank of England are printing money at the moment. If they were printing money they would not need to borrow money. Why would you borrow money at 5% if you can print it? Both countries are borrowing huge amounts, record amounts, ergo they are not printing noney. And you call your self an evonomist!

Not exactly a share structure designed to maximise liquidity or discount to NAV!!!Contains some good companies including my fave Zegona which has been on an absolute tear for 18 months and is fated to be taken out by Telefonica at £25-30 per share versus £17.5 now.À far easier to do 2x, though, is CHRY at 66p with a 130p NAV and is in wind up mode. Basically it is a 10% stake in Starling Bank plus some other stuff. Starling is an IPO in 2-3 years time on the NYSE (and also holds a very valuable software co, Engine). So there shd be 2 years worth of growth plus the elimination of the illiquidity discount on top of current NAV.Waz Shakoor says he has weighed in heavily on this name, as have I.
