Hello, Share Jumpers. This old punter is rather surprised at the way Ashtead (AHT) maintains and often improves on its lofty share price. The City seems to love this company which has grown big on hiring out tools and plant to build with. It obviously has very good management that keeps on bringing in the sheaves. Sadly, I disposed of my shares a few years ago.
Back in those fake halcyon days of early March when all of us should have been extrapolating events in China much more aggressively on a global financial markets basis, I wrote about plant equipment and tools hire company Ashtead (AHT) that 'in the run up to the November Presidential election, I would still be chilling on this one'. This was a good call in the sense that the share has not held the twenty quid level I have talked about a few times before...however let's face it, most shares are down over the last couple of months or so. Today's update from the company is bullish in one sense...
Hello, Share Lovers. One of the temptations of reviewing a share I sold some time ago is to take a jaundiced view of its future. But in the case of Ashtead (AHT), I think I can be objective. After all, this is a company which made me a lot of money before we parted company...
Hello, Share Rousters. The hardest regrets we have in dealing is the shares we sold too early. I know many folks in Shareland who dumped their ASOS (ASC) shares too quickly along the spectacular path from 7p to £30. And though they still kick themselves, there really is no need. Because we all sell winning stocks too early - for the following reasons.
Hello Share Touslers. It’s hard to get my head round my present view of Ashtead (AHT), the massive tool hire company. The share price is often among the highest risers in the Footsie. And I confess I have made more money out of it than many of my winners. And yet I sold all my shares far too early, at 1800p. They’re now around 2300p...
Another results statement from construction-related equipment hire company Ashtead (AHT), which I last wrote about back in December. To cut to the chase, my basic advice is the same; as I noted back then…
Hello, Share Climbers. I said I may go back to Ashtead (AHT), the tool and building plant hire company - and latest numbers yesterday look good to me. However, we all know it’s quite rare for a company’s share price to rise on reporting its latest results - and as I write the shares are down 2.5%. So let’s take a look at the results and see if we now have a buying opportunity, enhanced by the day’s drop in share price...
Hello, Share Twizzlers. My old friend Ashtead (AHT), the tool and plant hire company, is back on track again. So, after a three-year absence during which the share soared and plummeted, I may crawl back on board again...
Hello Share Trouncers. About two years ago, I sold this family’s shares in Ashtead (AHT). After consulting this very website, I could not see how its meteoric rise could be sustained. We took a big profit. But then, as so often happens to shares which seem overvalued, the share price continued to soar. But while I suffered many months of kicking myself, the share price then did what it should have done all along and crashed back to 1800p - the price at which I sold the lot. Then it fell even more...
A year ago I was a little early in saying it was time to sell/take profits in Ashtead (AHT) at the twenty quid level...but I can live with this given the good and nicely profitable bump in the share beforehand. Now the share price is just under the seventeen quid level and this has piqued my interest again because the rental of industrial goods is a growth business and Ashtead has a very decent market position in both the UK and especially the US...
