Your grandparents had servants but the servants didn't. We're talking about the average here.We don't have individual servants largely because we don't need them. We don't need a maid because we've got a washing machine, a dishwasher and a robot hoover. We don't need a gardener because we've got a chainsaw, a robot mower and a hedge trimmer and pathclear. We don't need a cook because we have ready meals, and any type of ingredient 5 minutes drive away (part of a cook's job was sourcing ingredients and making sure they lasted a week). Louis XIV was thought to be the richest man who ever lived. He had thousands of servants in Versailles. He had servants whose only job was to light candles. Now we just flick a flick a switch. We might not have many personal servants, but capitalism has provided us with tens of thousands of people working on our behalf to provide us with washing machines, hoovers, dishwashers, chainsaws etc. Louis XIV needed people to light candles but our "servants" are those working in the power stations to provide our electricity. Increasing productivity makes us richer (goods and services are cheaper). What took a dozen people to do in 1900 now takes just one person and a machine. Hard assets are largely unaffected by increasing productivity; it may be cheaper to build a house but there's no reason for land prices to have fallen and, given restrictions on housing development from Nimbyism, it is not a surprise that house prices have increased.
For 11 years I have explained how I was the victim of physical abuse, not sexual abuse. And the school has as a result of my campaign apologised for what Mr Geoffrey Eve did to me and to about 30 others. I have never said I was sexually abused and was not, I merely campaign for the victims. For what I have achieved in that campain I should be offered an MBE. Not that I'd accept it.As for my ankle it did not make me a cripple. I went on to play for London Irish wild geese and to do 35 mile charity walks raising a quarter of a million pounds for a good cause. But it has had LT consequences. You really are a sad man but thank you for bringing my latest article on Warwick to a wider audience
Now I finally understand TW why you are such a vile character gaining pleasure everyday out of destroying innocent companies and people. The abuse you admit you suffered TW in your latest paedophile article you posted with link below (being repeatedly beaten and sodomised at your school) and 15-year ongoing obsession with pedos explains your own extensive pedo activities that you have conducted in response where you have enjoyed over many years destroying innocent kids lives with a specific sick fetish for disabled kids. As they say the abused often become the new abuser in a never-ending disgusting cycle. Makes sense as your own article states you were permanently disabled in the pool from your beating and also fucked up the arse repeatedly at school so you secretly seek your sick revenge by repeat behaviour. I pray for your own young kids (especially boys) safety living with a monster like you and also pray your wife and kids and local community are fully aware of your history. Everyone knows what you did TW and your local Wales police will soon be interviewing you under caution to discuss or just issue an arrest warrant! Game over for the Winnifiddling Nonce! I am sure Bloomberg and many others can't wait to write an article about this massive criminal expose!https://www.tomwinnifrith.com/articles/83008/the-old-warwickian-arrives-an-update-on-paedophile-teacher-paul-stainsby
On the face of it the capital access window rules are a step into the light BUTOnly if the insider list is laid before the regulator along with a list of trades from the registrar say a week before the suspension and any names on both lists are asked to account for that.Chuck in a few quick 7 stretches 'pour encourager les autres' and you could clean up pre-placing shenanigans in a heartbeat. Will it happen?Like you, I have my doubts.
Excellent letter Tom - if that doesn't chivvy him up nothing will. And for the record, Bloomberg is crap compared to CNBC in my view. If they can't offer an entertaining watchable business show that shows you how second grade they are.
The Grandparents big blunder was not buying a house in Eaton Square for eight grand in 1948. They could have afforded it (just). That house today must be £15m & folks like my grandparents could not afford it in their wildest dreams
I am a fully paid up capitalist, I don't begrudge your wealth and you have probably done slightly better than me on that score but as Ronnie Corbett said in 1966 'I know my place' . In my case with the benefit of hindsight I put my financial situation today as an old codger in my 70s entirely down to the luck of the draw gambling on the stock market not hard work, which in my experience does not produce anything like the same results. If your grandparents sold 'Ightam' in 1935 and today its worth 12 million pounds well thats not your fault, they blundered, we all blunder sometimes, I don't hold anything against my ancestors for getting evicted in the 1920s but my personal reference point is from when I started earning in the 1960s to today and I am certainly richer by any measure including the relative amounts of gold I could buy. I do not accept GDP per capita being more material. UK is still at no 5 position wrt to GDP, UK is not impoverished, India will obviously soon overtake us, Russia is buggered and will slip down from no 8 and the comparisons adjusting per capita GDP for ppp supposedly showing it in a better light are also ridiculous. I spend a fair amount of time out of the UK in various countries, in ROI were GDP per capita is no 4 compared to our own position at no 20 and of course this is total bollocks as you well know, food costs less than UK, you can live there for less , if only the illegal migrants trying to get from ROI to England had any idea of the bennies they could scam in Eire they would stay put.
Really? My grandparents were not fabulously wealthy but had servants ( a cook, a nanny, a main and 2 gardners), how many folks have servants today? My parents really were not rich but we wanted for nothing growing up. Yes the price of many goods has gone down but the price of hard assets has not. Try asking my grown up kids about getting on the housing ladder?
