I think you may well be right in respect of the Fed raising rates and the BOE too over the coming months. BOE could raise further after that too. Personally, I think the bigger picture is the UK moving into a debt doom loop and the Country is not moving to remedy the problem. Gold has to be part of a "doomsday prep" picture.Personally, I'd sold down quite a bit of my holding in Anglogold Ashanti (AU) and GGP - I think I'm going to start buying back in dribs and drabs now. I don't mind being in a rum market for gold over the next 12 months - in 2 years or so I think we'll be fine.
Proposals to compensate countries for slavery are totally immoral. We are not responsible for the actions of our ancestors. All slavery is an abomination and I am proud of the role Britain had (eventually) in stopping the Africa/America trade. Slavery has existed in every generation; I have seen estimates that there are likely to be more than 45 million people in slavery today. If the government has cash to spare maybe they should tackle that. But if I am wrong and reparations are appropriate, we should be able to claim reparations from the Muslim north Africans that raided the south and west coasts of Britain and Ireland in the 17th century, and kidnapped fishermen and naval sailors off our coasts, including those trying to stop the slave trade to the Americas. And the slave trade between East Africa and the Muslim Middle East was far worse, in numbers and treatment. In that trade men ad boys were castrated and used as work horses, and women and girls used as breeding stock for more slaves. Of course that isn't called out; it would not fit the woke narrative.
You are wrong again, as usual. One, there are very few Brexit papers and if you had seen the writings of many Telegraph subscribers you would know that the decision to sack those two will be financially punitive, people are cancelling / not renewing their subscriptions. The big wigs at the Telegraph are effectively turning the paper into a watered down version of the struggling Guardian and it will ultimately fail unless they have a rethink. As regards Germany and France, which is being burnt to the ground by left wing bigots, (sound familiar Jonathan?), Germany's economy has been destroyed by Net Zero policies, which are far more advanced over there than here and that is directly as a result of being a member of the EU with the likes of Merkel etc slavishly following their puppet masters for financial gain whilst having no care for the destruction of their own country. This has been extensively documented for years yet in your world of delusion you blame Brexit, it beggars belief.
You obviously listen to different US commentators than I do. I don't know what the outcome will be any more than you or any of the pundits do, we can only hope that the loony left do not prevail.
Nice to hear some good news for a change. Good riddance to Allison and Liam. Of course there remain many more Brexit papers than Remain papers despite your comments. As for Germany and France, their economic performance was badly damaged by Brexit too. They haven't lost as much wealth as the UK but they have suffered significantly from the increase in friction that killed so many small businesses here and cratered UK exports. Lets hope Dan Hannan and the rest of the Brexit morons get the boot too.
