The scandal of the shameful smearing as “Russian assets” of my pals the short sellers Fraser Perring and Boatman Capital in the House of Commons by Labour MP Liam Byrne is not going away. You will remember that the smear lines were provided by now proven fraudsters that Perring was exposing.
I reported two months ago that Perring had submitted a full dossier on this scandal to the Parliamentary Ombudsman. That it was a smear, which seriously affected the life of Perring and his family, is not in doubt. The big question is what drive Byrne to do the smearing? Did the firm of Christopher Steele (of fake Trump Russia dossier infamy), which was paid £30,000 to plant the smear, make any donation to anyone associated with Byrne or did he just do the smearing out of the goodness of his heart?
A report out last night, behind a paywall, from ”Intelligence online” suggests we may have a beer and popcorn moment soon. It states:
Perring's decision to take to matter to the Standards Commissioner forces a decision on Daniel Greenberg, the London lawyer who has held the role since January 2023. Expected to respond after parliament resumes on 1 September, Greenberg can request that Byrne make a formal correction of the record, or recommend disciplinary action if he believes parliament has been knowingly misled.
Ends.
Bring it on…
