Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours. I wrote this article myself, and it expresses my own opinions. I am not receiving compensation for it (other than from ShareProphets). I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article.
It was many many months ago that I first started complaining to staff at Tesco (TSCO) Wrexham about the way that the Israeli houmous it stocked was attacked. There would be stickers from supporters of a Palestinian state stuck to the packs or pork products hidden among the pots. My complaints were met with indifference and, in one case, with outright hostility from a purple haired monster who considered that I was the problem for reporting a hate crime, not the crime itself. Maybe she does not like Jews.
Then I managed to talk to the store manager and things changed. You can improve the wold just a little bit if you persist! Instead of saying they’d look at cameras or report incidents to managers the staff actually did when I flagged up an incident. Staff had it explained to them by the store manager that what was happening was a hate crime and got the message. Security was stepped up. So yesterday I was in Tesco and went to buy a pot of Sabra houmous in solidary with Israel only to see the labels below.
What is happening in Gaza is not genocide. The population is going up. So to use the word is a blood libel and insults victims of real genocides.
I grabbed a member of staff and showed him what you see below and said “this is a hate crime.” He agreed and within three minutes he had brought over a manager who just could not apologise enough. She almost apologised too much for any hurt she thought I was suffering. The labels were replaced. The cameras would be checked by security.
A few minutes later as the kids and I were buying cat food, the man rushed up to me to tell me that the individual pots had been checked and to ensure that the ones I had bought did not have hate crime stickers on them as some did
Well done to Tesco Wrexham, for total culture change. It has my custom for life as does Sabra houmous.
