Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours. I wrote this article myself, and it expresses my own opinions. I am not receiving compensation for it (other than from ShareProphets). I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article.
Leni Gas & Oil (LGO) published an RNS last Friday which contained a typo. For this, my good friend Doc Holiday wishes to berate David Lenigas, also a friend. I think Doc is, on this rare occasion, wrong but I appear to be getting some flak for this on twitter.

How can it be a typo?
At best, it’s a mathematical error committed by the author and approved by DL and the nomad to name but two.
At worst, it’s an intentional misrepresentation, devised by or approved by the same DL and nomad.
Since these chaps are seasoned and professional abacus users for the frequent purpose of comparing period-on-period data, I would tend to favour the latter explanation.
Sometimes, believe it or not, the pigs even omit data that they don’t fancy the look of.
Not that this applies to DL whose reason for omitting the quantum of the stabilised flow rate from his first Trini well is only temporarily mysterious.

111774 constitutes a year on year increase (from 58450) of 91.2% to one decimal place, so their statement is incorrect – end of. 111774 is also 191.2% of 58450, but does not constitute an increase of 191.2%. Not so much misleading, then, as simply wrong. I reported an identical (in essence) screw-up in a hibu RNS last year.
If this was intentional the author is indeed an fwit for being so obvious, and is probably making his or her way back to the Sargasso Sea as I type. If this was not intentional the author is an even bigger fwit for not perceiving the ambiguity.
Whilst I’m here, isn’t the new National Express advert with David Soul crooning Silver Lady cool (what is it with them and straight lines, by the way – was the founder persecuted by Romans in an earlier incarnation)?

Re. my comment above, I was being an fwit for asserting that “If this was not intentional the author is an even bigger fwit for not perceiving the ambiguity” as the statement is not ambiguous – it only has one meaning and that is wrong.
Posted by mistake after – once again – not making better use of the preview button. My apologies – must try harder!
Haven’t been able to get Silver Lady out of my head all week, by the way. I’m not sure of the lyrical meaning but I just hope he wasn’t going through a Wayne Rooney phase at the time.
