The world consume about 32 billion barrels of liquids and 120 tcf of gas per year .
Reserves replacement of $100 oil is falling behind .
Oil and gas prices are now very low and exploration is not providing a very good bang for the buck .
Thus we are left with exploiting existing known resources either with better technology or in dangerous locations .
I suggest that it will take longer than expected for substitution to take place – and what incentive is there to do so with the current glut ?
I would not be an early investor/adoper of renewables . In a hundred years time I expect the world will be nuclear powered , not renewable powered .
Malcolm , you are not alone in reducing your investment in O&G . Much bigger players are doing it .
Surely this lack of investment now is going to lead to shortages and price shocks in the not too distant future ?
