A couple of weeks ago I exposed how Heathrow Airport broke the covid laws and lied to customers about what it was doing. Natch the airport has not bothered to respond. For the Government and Big Corporations in Airstrip One it is just Carry on Lying. That is the culture in which we all live. Today’s big corporate liar is Eurostar which has also declined to comment.
Daughter Olaf was travelling back from Paris this morning having taken a test two days ago in line with the current guidance of both Eurostar and our beloved Government, which you can see below. But she, like all the passengers on her train and others today, was told that she needed a test within the last day. She showed the officials what their own company said on its website but to no avail.
This was not a case of bad translation. Olaf is living in Paris studying at the Sorbonne for the third year of her Oxford French degree where so far she is on track to get a First. So she speaks superb Frog. This is just another big company making up the rules as it goes along. Olaf scuttled off to get a new test at the nearest centre as did all the other passengers, pissing away 30 Euro, before catching a later train. Of course it was nearly empty as most of its passengers were off getting new tests.
Eurostar declined to comment on its industrial scale lying to its customers. Like Heathrow it has a near monopolistic position so can afford to treat we plebs, its customers, with contempt.
