You may remember that PR man Henry Gewanter has taken Julie “Lingerie on Expenses” Meyer to court over unpaid bills. On 2nd August Gewanter won his case because Ms Meyer simply failed to file a defence. But now using the firm of Shakespeare Martineau, her 19th lawyers, most of the other 18 having failed to receive payment, Ms Sex Toys on expenses has struck back in her own, typically mendacious, way….
Julie wants the default judgement set aside and offered to pay the costs of doing that (£690). Gewanter agreed but the cheque did not arrive so on 7 December the two parties meet in Court to see if the judgement should be set aside, a procedure that would not be needed had Meyer sent the £690 as pledged.
What is comical is the reason Ms Meyer, a woman branded hysterical and a wholly unreliable witness by a Judge in another case and on the run from Maltese Police over criminal charges, gives for not filing her defence by the August 2 deadline.
Team Gewanter insisst that Meyer failed to comply with the pre action protocol despite them corresponding with her directly and also with her previous lawyer Julian Pike of Farrer & Co. Meyer then failed to file an Acknowledgment of Service or Defence within the timescale allowed.
The Court confirms that Meyer filed a defence, incidentally one that has now been changed completely by her new solicitors so much that it is unrecognisable from version one, on 20 August. Meyer at first insisted that he had posted a letter before 2nd August but that it had got lost in the post. She was asked by Gewanter’s team to provide a copy of the cover letter sent with that defence but Meyer claims there was no cover letter and no record of postage.
She then changed her excuse claiming that she was abroad at the time and scanned a signed copy of the Defence to a member of her staff with the instructions that it was to be sent by post. Asked for the email that proves up this second version , Ms Meyer declined this opportunity to verify her story.
Instead, in her latest witness statement Ms Meyer states that she gave the signed copies of the documents to her House Manager and gave him instructions to post it to the Court, apparently now leaving no paper trace.
Whatever… three different stories, which one (if any) is true and which are more lies from Julie Meyer MBE.
With the IRS, HMRC, Maltese Police and Courts, FCA, SFO, Action Fraud and three banks seeking unpaid loans or the enforcement of personal guarantees on her case we suspect Gewanter is the least of Julie’s problems. But he is not going away…
