Revenue plunges, losses soar at Jim Mellon’s Master Investor – is he preparing to shut it down?

Oh dear, oh dear. After my old offshore based, tax averse, pal Jim Mellon saw guests speaking to a near deserted hall in 2018 you wondered what the next disaster from his Master Investor show would be. Well the old asset stripper has just published calendar 2017 accounts and they are the grimmest yet and come with a stark warning that the game may be almost up.

Revenues dived from £410,149 to £349,260. Ooops. The loss before tax soared from £583,779 to £768,538 – Hmmm ….sales down costs up. Great business model Jim. Net current liabilities raced ahead to £2.485,631 – as losses since inception reached £2,457,683. Ouch. And to think that Mellon could have sold this show and the profitable publishing operations that came with it – but have since been shut down - for £500,000 when it was part of Rivington Street but opted to asset strip it instead. Ouch. Ouch. Ouch.

The sole director is Mellon’s henchman Denham Eke who admits that there is a material uncertainty as to whether Master Investor is a going concern. I should cocoa. But he says Mellon’s Burnbrae company will keep on propping it up for at least another 12 months.

Hmmmmmmm given the near deserted 2018 show it is hard to see how Master Investor will avoid racking up another stonking loss for 2018 and after the 2019 washout maybe finally this sad event will be put out of its misery.
