Disclosure: I have no positions in any stocks mentioned, and no plans to initiate any positions within the next 72 hours. I wrote this article myself, and it expresses my own opinions. I am not receiving compensation for it (other than from ShareProphets). I have no business relationship with any company whose stock is mentioned in this article.
The good news is that Filthy Lucre will have less to moan about on this website. The bad news for fraudsters is that ShareProphets needs a new editor as Tom Winnifrith has been seconded to head up a new team at the FCA - with immediate effect as of noon today, April 1.

Congratulations! I guess your teapot will be made by either Thorntons or Hotel Chocolat.
Is it true that you will be reporting to the exotically beautiful but slightly dotty Lola Pirof?
BobbyChariot
Imagine AIM if that happened :O

If this isn’t a spoof given the auspicious day of this announcement then I’d cheer to the rafters .. ;)

In future we can expect a four week delay in replies to emails. Then only to explain that no further communication is possible due the likelihood of embarrassment, which could be caused by exposing a total lack of understanding of the matter reported.

I wait in anticipation for the Worthington RNS….. No extensions this time?? Or will there be another April Fool.

I found it difficult to distinguish between this announcement and some of the content of this website during the test of the year.

Tom, is there any chance that you’ll be looking for an amanuensis / translator in this prestigious new position? if so then I’d like to put myself forward. I consider myself to have a bit of a way with words and there is a clear need for someone to put your thoughts and your judgements into language that those more…more..staid, erm…restrained members of the FCA panel can comprehend.
For instance, I could easily put something like:
“Those f****in’ useless kn*bjugglers at UKOG must be having a bubble if they think they can get a hundred f****in’ million barrels out of the Weald of f****n’ Kent. I’ve got more chance of riveting C**** C***‘s a**e to the f*****n’ mattress than that ever f*****n’ happening.”
into something more…more..“accessible” to the panel.
What do you say, Tom? Am I in with a whisper? or a shout?
Russ O'Callaghan
Or maybe, Tom, you feel that some of the things you put out are just too bland, too…too anodyne, not punchy enough and may leave the reader unsure as to your stance on things. Well I could take stuff like that last passage and beef it up a bit, give it some edge, so that there was no risk of folks thinking that you were on the fence, say, regarding outfits like UKOG.
Think about it, Tom. I’d welcome your thoughts.
:-) Russ
filthy lucre
“ frauds will now undergo renewed scrutiny as the FCA brings one of the most talented financial forensic investigators into the fold “
April Fools!
Is it really acceptable to publish a blatant lie which could be price sensitive (people might start to take Tom seriously if he ever got a job) later to dress it up as a spoof?
I wonder what the FCA thinks of that. Not much I suspect.
Hell will freeze over before Tom is recruited.

Hell would freeze over before Id accept. Glad to see you’ve moved on from defending Rob Terry to trying to ban humour, The therapy must be working

Filthy,
I think it’s an April Fool, as in, “a joke”. I don’t actually think you’re really supposed to get your cholesterol up above potentially fatal levels over it. Plus the fact that, given Tom’s deep, widely known feelings of respect and admiration for the tireless, selfless and effective work done on investors’ behalf by the FCA, I doubt whether he’s changing his underpants on a minute-by-minute basis over what they might be thinking about his spoof.
filthy lucre
‘Clever’ way of publishing false info to be later dressed up as a spoof though,
eh! Maybe Tom thinks it’s April 1st every day?
phil
That will be the first and only time you ever see the word Clever and Filthy Lucre together in the same sentence.
When some of the more younger readers move onto their old age, they will look back on these times, and say to each other “Hey remember that website Shareprophets and that dog day April fool and Tom Winnifrith stalker, the Filthy Lucre”
and they will laugh
