Quite agree Tom. I’d luv to see the Krauts back with the Deutschmark – that wud wipe the smug smile of Frau Merkels face. Wud b very gud for the UK as well.

Tom, you’d be naive to expect the Eurocrats to accept democratic outcomes. Haven’t they already disregarded the results of referendums in Ireland, France and Netherlands when the results were inconvenient to them, when the people voted “the wrong way”? And they got away with it every time. Haven’t they already installed their gauleiters in countries such as Italy? And they got away with it. Aren’t treaties rewritten and put into effect without any regard for democracy? You’re right, that is what’s coming in Greece, it’s all about getting rid of the democratically-elected government. The founding fathers of “Europe” must be turning in their graves.
For the record, I am a convinced “European” but this Europe sickens me.

What are the odds on the last directive Tsipiras giving being to “invite” riot police in from Europe to “help” .
Surely no British Cabinet minister or police chief be so stupid as to allow British police officers to attend as British police officers or part of Eurogendarmerie ?

Watching the Greek tragedy is like watching an ebay auction, wankers come along from both sides and make meaningless bids and statements about whats on the table and ask daft questions in the days and weeks leading up to the end then some new tosser (maybe Putin or Xu Yu Pong ? ) comes along and snipes it at the last millisecond, is that whats in store for Greece ?

Greece should simply declare a default on their debt and carry on using the Euro.Of course, the Eurocrats would go ballastic and they control the governing classes of Europe so it won’t happen.

Tom Winnifrith, were you not as early as a fortnight ago denouncing the unsustainable financial mess that Greece was in and the unacceptable pension schemes that allowed your brother-in-law to retire at 52 and many others to drain the financial resources because of an archaic and too socially lenient state? Now you blow their trumpet and attack the other European states for losing their patience with Greece??? It got itself into a mess, the only blame you can lay at Europe is that they shouldn’t have allowed this weak and backward nation to join the Euro, they just weren’t up to it. Besides that, Greece got itself into financial trouble and when given the opportunity to balance their books without going legs up, as early as 2010, they barely made any improvement. They had FIVE years to fix or patch things up, yet they’re in an even worse condition that they were in at the time. Meanwhile, other nations that were either shaky or on the bring of collapse, namely Ireland, Spain, Portugal and even Italy, they all took steps to remedy the situation, often at great social cost, and are now coming out of the woods. Yet the Greeks, stuck in their socialist utopian mentality, with still no appreciation of how a modern state, or money for that matter, really works, have made no improvement whatsoever whilst the ship was sinking further, have voted a party that is at the very opposite end of common western financial politics, and now have even the arrogance of blaming Europe for not trying to help and stubbornly reject any proposal that even remotely touches the privileged pensioners, the great numbers of civil servants, or even VAT. They have been huge time- and money-wasters and you fly their flag???? Or is it because of family reasons?
