Sefton - The Smears start again for those who dare to question

You may well remember the dirty tricks camoaign that Sefton Resources (SER) under Jimmyliar Ellerton waged against myself and Dan Levi when we exposed his lies and fraud. One smear was to plant a suggestion/lie with a "friendly journalist" - or scab as I would call her - in the Daily Telegraph suggesting that Dan was short of the stock. Now it seems as if New Sefton is waging the same campaign against me.

Comments

  1. The Shareprophets website is under severe danger of losing readers – it’s just turned into a ‘TW being grumpy and Zak talking Technical Voodoo’ website.

Honestly Tom, stop the Sefton blah blah will ya? We know it’s overvalued, we KNOW. We know NWOG was a car crash. WE KNOW. Pick on someone else who really deserves it and stop the personal bickering between you and Dan and Chris Oil.

If not – you’ll lose readers. Cos we’re getting bored.

  2. wildrides

Its as plain as day :-
    Only 300k in the bank
    No CEO
    Inexperienced Finance Director
    Terrible reputation
    Troll following
Court case coming down the line

Who in their right mind would invest ? A piece of shite does not do it justice . More like a radio active piece of shite personally signed and endorsed by Broken Man Dan , hand polished by same , with a million year radioactive half life .

Forty barge poles strapped together would bring one too close for comfort. The lure of the pump and dump that is perpetuated and maintained by Pump and Dump bloggers like Desperate Dan is all that sustains it . Every day the markets trade a new set of naive young lobsters get trapped in this pot . As Elton John sang “ its so sad , its a sad sad situation and its gettin out of hand”

  3. Troysky

Oddly registered users hit another all time high this week. But thanks for the business advice.

Zak is sub 33% of the content here and we have added to other content since his arrival. If you think he talks mumbo jumbo ( fair point) ignore him.

As for me bashing Chris Oil ( not dan) he is a market abuser and sorry if it hurts your feelings but I go after bad guys. He is a criminal so I shall continue to go after him cos criminals do deserve such treatment

If you want sugar coated fluff go elsewhere. We expose scandals and go after bad guys. The day we take orders from folks like you not to that is the day folks like me stop writing altogether.

    T

  4. J P Spaghetti

TROYSKA – not that Tom needs any assistance here(!) but, in fairness, he’s only defending himself against a recent smear which could undermine his journalistic integrity and reputation (which – clearly – is important) if left unchallenged. Re.

“which will no doubt help with his possible short”,

it certainly seems to be a slippery attempt to plant the seed that he’s shorted the stock in the mind of readers whilst not actually stating anything potentially libellous, but I’d argue it might have backfired. This is because it expresses no conditionality. Had it stated “which will no doubt help if he is short” then fine. The fact the word “will” is used, though, to my mind overrides what would otherwise have been subsequent legitimate qualifications (“possible”) even if they have been expressed clumsily.

    Way too guarded!

  5. Tom HAS been libelled. Making the suggestion is defamatory. It is also malicious, which adds to the damages. Especially as Tom has always gone out of his way to state that he does not short.. Tom will probably not sue, as he’s like that. This will give the smearer a worrying weekend at least.

  6. I wont sue, the little worm is not worth it!

  7. I’d threaten to sue. That makes sure Mr Joe will attempt to minimise damage which should mean an apology or clarification at least.

  8. Russ O'Callaghan

I’m sure that these folks WOULD like ShareProphets to go away. ANY voice that interrupts their spiel to attract punters into their varied dodgy deals is a threat to their income. What surprises me is that a large number of them DO display a skill, a cunningness, indeed a kind of “business acumen” that begs the questions: why ARE they involved in such shady operations? Why on earth are they not using their obvious skills to start and to run proper, legitimate, functional companies that wouldn’t attract such widespread criticism?
As a very successful mate of mine once said to me, “It’s as if some CEO’s heads are wired up differently. When they get to a fork in the road they just cannot choose the straight path; they have to go for the risky, tortuous, thorn-covered one”.

  9. I wasn’t trying to give Business Advice Tom. I was merely speaking as a long term and loyal ‘Customer’. And as a business I am sure that your Customers are important to you – so i thank you for not swearing at me, even if you were a bit Sarky :-)

As for the registered users – well that is what i’d expect, very few will ‘un register’ but will just stop visiting. However I am sure you know your stats.

Re: the alleged Libel – of course you should refute. the choice of this thread for my howl of tedium was accidental, but you DO mention Sefton a lot – Bearcasts, articles etc etc. I, as a lone customer, am starting to not visit your site as much as I did and thought i’d post up why, just in case you were interested. My mistake. It’s not like you are going to court cos Jimmy Liar has gone the whole 9 yards, and HE was a comic book villain that had to be despised – great for readers. Some no-mark making grubby comments isn’t quite the same.

Anyway – enjoy the rest of the weeknd. Please can we have a few more Greek/Hovel related articles as the state of Snakes and potholes and cash withdrawals is actually quite informative to a man who holds European Stocks….Has your local ATM run out of cash?????

  10. Troyska

Sorry if I have done too much SER but it is a story that keeps on giving. Just for you I have both snake & Bank/ATM articles going up on TomWinnifrith.com a bit later but first I am going to do a bit of frigana poisoning. That of course may yield more snake stories, not ATM stories.

As for the point about customers being important. Sure we have to cover our costs. But the guiding principle here is that each writer writes about what interests them, no one is forced to write about things that do not interest them. The madness of King Sefton interests me. Almost as much as frigana poisoning

    t

  11. Splendid response, and I look forward to ATM (and snake) articles later.!! Happy poisoning. I am in European Stocks heavily on the assumption that the Eu will do do what the Eu do best – Fudge it and compromise. After all – it’s THEIR jobs they are looking after ;-)

But, like yourself I am an old knacker with nowhere near enough dosh to see out any years I may accidentally live through in retirement. So it’s important to me at least.

p.s. May be a money tree worshiper but I love Malcolm’s stuff, credit to you for printing something you clearly dont believe in.

  12. Troyska

Article 1 from the Greek Hovel now up on TomWinnifrith.com – 3 more in my head and would rather write them than finish subbing Zak Mir’s book so they should go live today

    T

  13. In relation to troyskas post about the amount of technical content, just a thought but what about breaking the site down into categories/different headers by content, say for technical (Zak, Thierry), fraud and other expose (China frauds for example), analysis (buy and sell calls, bear casts etc) and maybe comedy (bb moron of the week). Might make it easier to quickly find the content one is after. Just sharing a passing thought..

  14. tom, if you hadnt exposed sefton i would have lost a lot more money than i did so if your bashing them and some other poor sod saves their hard earned cash then keep on doing it and whilst your in greece can you boot the president up the arse and tell him to sign the minoan deal talk about long winded!!!

  15. J P Spaghetti

A1HOOKY – I would have too (didn’t invest at all in the end)

  16. Agree with LG, categories would be a good move. Great content Tom and I’m sure you don’t have a limitless IT budget, but as another long and loyal customer I have to say that SP is not the most user friendly experience. Getting from page to page on a mobile using the numbers and arrows on the bottom is very fiddly, could they be made larger? No offence to Zak, but I tend to scroll past a lot of his stuff as I’m more of a fundamentalist. Can he not get his own tab where he can be cordoned off into the technical area? Like Troyska, I really enjoy the personal and European stuff too. Keep up the good work and think big Tom, this important work should have a bigger platform.

  17. Tom
I agree with all the above. And I am very impressed with the level of their support of you. Keep up the good work!
How about renting out the hovel after sorting the wildlife out!! [Only joking]
