Zoopla (ZPLA) shares have performed brilliantly over the past few months, rising from a low around 230p to the current 320p, for a mighty market cap of £1.37 billion. As some highly knowledgeable shareholders lighten their holdings, it might be worth others considering whether such a market cap is truly justified.
There are several negatives in play on the daily chart of Zoopla (ZPLA), this is over and above the rumour earlier in the week that bull trader / investor Gotham Research had lined up the online estate agent as its next victim.
You do not need to be Donald Trump to realise that the implications of the Tory victory on May 7th were rather positive for the housing market, and all that rely on it for their income, including service providers such as Zoopla.
Who remembers back to the IPO frenzy of earlier this year? A time when almost anything seemed possible and, if it was in a reasonable state of readiness, was floated by those oh-so-helpful investment banks. I was reminded of two names earlier today due to the publication of their results. Zoopla (ZPLA) is the group behind a number of property websites whilst AO World (AO.) apparently is ‘on a mission to become a leading European online retailer of electrical products’ (as per its corporate website). Both were floated earlier this year and both are nicely below their initial list price.
