Yesterday HL notified me that there has been an offer to exchange some of my holdings for "Realisation shares". The decision has to be made by noon on the 16th. I'm not sure what to do yet.

Your last sentence shows you do not understand the basics of economics. Printing more money will not 'cover the increased cost of oil' I have no idea where you get that idea from all it will do is increase inflation as it did during the Convid hoax. The major reason for high petrol and diesel prices in the UK is the 55% tax we pay at the pump. If the Gov' wanted to help they would slash that but they won't, they are lining their own pockets at our expense.

Congratulations for winning the contest 🙄What was the point of putting your entry in there? If you won, as you did, how would you benefit from the prize? You also said that Steve couldn't go if he won. I suggest barring all your writers from making entries into these competitions; it might give other readers more incentive. It was good having all the different points of view but you had already made your views known on Georgina/Hussar.I don't have a shorting account but I'll be looking forward to the long ideas in the next competition.
When economist speak of printing money they don't usually mean physically printing £20 notes; typically they mean creating IOUs (gilts) out nothing that governments then release into the market through the central bank. This has the effect of increasing the money supply, or printing money. The government can then use that money to pay, say, benefits which is spent by the recipients on limited goods. The increased demand for goods enables suppliers to put up prices - hence inflation. Simplistic, but in essence correct for one paragraph.
