Proteome Sciences (PRM) has issued a “Substantial contract” announcement and what of the shares currently at 2.6p comparing to below 1.65p that they commenced last week?
Previously writing on contract proteomics services company Proteome Sciences (PRM), in May with the shares up to 3.8p I concluded that it is in cash context that performance insight is required rather than about “customer contact” and “quotations provided” and continued avoid/sell. It has now announced results for the first half of 2024, and what of the shares currently 17.5% further lower at below 3p?
Proteome Sciences (PRM) has issued an AGM statement commencing, “Since the start of 2024, we have seen significant customer engagement and interest in proteomics services reflected by the considerable increase in customer contact and quotations provided, including the substantial contract win from a US biopharmaceutical company announced on 26 April 2024. The company is confident and well positioned to see the business return to growth in 2024”. How does this compare to a share price currently more than 8% higher in response at 3.8p?
Describing itself as “a specialist provider of contract proteomics services”, Proteome Sciences (PRM) has issued a “trading update” commencing that it “expects the US laboratory to be operational in the coming weeks and is lining up first customer projects for this laboratory” and including “increased customer activity in recent weeks”. So what of a current 4.525p share price, down by 25%?!
Describing itself as “a specialist provider of contract proteomics services to enable drug discovery, development and biomarker identification”, Proteome Sciences (PRM) has announced results for the first half of the 2023 calendar year including stating that it “is confident of maintaining the good performance into the second half of the year… cash resources of £3.79m (30 June 2022: £3.20m)”. So what of a current share price response down more than 25% at 6.3p?
Describing itself as “a specialist provider of contract proteomics services to enable drug discovery, development and biomarker identification”, Proteome Sciences (PRM) has issued a trading update commencing that it “is pleased to report that it has continued to show strong growth” and concluding that the “business is strongly positioned for 2023”. So what of a current more than 22% higher share price response to 4.6p?

Although we may have had the feeling since the beginning of the year that shares of Proteome Sciences were ready to start bottoming out, so far it has been an extended process, which has probably taken most traders by surprise.
In the case of Proteome Sciences (PRM) we have an overall broadening triangle formation on the daily chart, one that can be drawn from as long ago as November.
What is evident on the daily chart of Proteome Sciences in recent months is the way that 50 day moving average at 21p has been a key player in the technicals for this stock
There will be few who would disagree that the post June period for Proteome Sciences (PRM) is probably best forgotten. This is because, following the early summer bull trap reversal through 70p, we were treated to a punishing two stage decline.
Perhaps the saddest back about UK pharmaceutical companies is the way that while we all hope they will blossom into the next Glaxo or the next Astra, too many of the minnows have fallen by the wayside.
