Marshalls – “adjusted profit growth delivered in line with expectations”, but how sustainably?…

UK landscaping, building and roofing products company Marshalls (MSLH) has announced results for the first half of the 2026 calendar year including emphasising “adjusted profit growth delivered in line with expectations. This reflects our reinvigorated focus on sharper execution, continued financial discipline and the benefits of actions taken through FY25 to create a leaner and more focused operating platform”. Hmmm, so not from sales growth then?

MSLH

Marshalls – emphasises trading “in line” with expectations, but for how long and how creditable is such trading anyway?

Most recently writing on UK landscaping, building and roofing products company Marshalls (MSLH), in March with the shares falling below 140p I concluded that, with not a very strong financial position in the context of a still above £350 million market cap and still clear trading headwinds, still avoid/sell. What about now an ‘AGM Trading Update’ headlined “In line trading performance year-to-date supports unchanged full-year expectations” and the shares around 127p?

MSLH

Marshalls – 2025 results, as its shares further fall what of its argued “strong financial position” and “expectations for the year remain unchanged”?…

Most recently on UK landscaping, building and roofing products company Marshalls (MSLH), in January with the shares still above 170p I noted recent revenue flat and that some trading improvement looked priced-in so to still avoid. What about after now its 2025 calendar year results including emphasising “strong financial position supporting growth ambitions… priority for 2026 is the disciplined implementation of the 'Transform & Grow' strategy. This will be underpinned by sharper execution” and the shares currently slipping below 140p?

MSLH

Marshalls – argues “a resilient performance”, but it’s less “resilient” than previously…

Landscaping, building and roofing products company in the UK, Marshalls (MSLH) has announced “a resilient performance, with group revenues up two per cent year-on-year despite current market conditions, and our full year profit expectations remain unchanged… The group’s balance sheet continues to be robust, with pre-IFRS16 net debt of £155 million”. How “resilient” and “robust” is the performance relative to the valuation from a current 173.4p share price?

MSLH

Marshalls – emphasises “a return to group revenue growth”, but what about the bottom-line?…

Describing itself as “a leading manufacturer of sustainable solutions for the built environment”, Marshalls (MSLH) has announced its results for the first half of 2025 headlined “'Transform & Grow' strategy delivers a return to Group revenue growth in subdued markets”. However, what about the shares down towards 200p compared to above 300p a year ago?

MSLH

Marshalls – after in May emphasising “encouraged” by trading, now a profit warning!…

Most recently writing on landscaping, building and roofing products company Marshalls (MSLH), in May with the shares up towards 295p I noted its AGM Update emphasising “encouraged” by trading but concluded that it did not suggest real trading recovery progress - of which there looked some already priced-in - and to continue to avoid. The shares most recently closed at 264p and now a “Trading Update”, and what about the shares currently down towards 200p?

MSLH

Marshalls – 2024 results argue to expect a “strengthen progressively… market recovery later this year”, but what did it expect early last year again?…

Landscaping, building and roofing products company Marshalls (MSLH) has announced its results for the 2024 calendar year including emphasising “resilient group performance reflecting decisive management actions and diversification strategy” and that it “expects a market recovery later this year, which should strengthen progressively”. So what about a share price, already down from a start of 2024 near 280p, currently 4% further lower to below 235p?

MSLH

Marshalls – trading update argues to expect 2025 improvement, but stated similar for 2024…

Landscape, building and roofing products company Marshalls (MSLH) has issued a trading update including that it “expects adjusted profit before tax for 2024 to be within the range of market expectations” and “believes that profitability in 2025 will be ahead of FY2024”. So what of a current approaching 8% lower share price response to around 235p?

Barry says "if this trade unwinds it does completely crash the economy" as if there is a way to avoid it. By some measures the biggest bubble the world economy has ever seen cannot be kept inflated indefinitely, nor can it be made to deflate slowly and gently float down. Or at least that has never been seen with the biggest bubbles the world has ever seen previously. Interesting times ahead.

Please produce some data to back up your claim that the government by which you mean the Bank of England as the government has no control over the money supply, is printing money. What is increasing, is it M1, M2 or M3 and by how much? I strongly suspect that the inflation we are seeing today is input cost inflation, largely caused by the increase in energy costs as a result of the war started by the orange faced idiot and his puppet master Netanyahu. Energy costs are pervasive, influencing every aspect of the economy and your suggestion of reducing the taxes on energy is populist nonsense. Would you have the government borrowing even more money than it is now, or dare I say it, printing money?

Benefits increases of 3.9%. public sector pay increases of 3.3%. 4.1% increase in minimum wage.I have no idea where some inflation comes from?Though of course all these people have to choose between heating and eating.

Money printing schmoney printing, what you say makes no logical sense. Inflation can have many causes and money printing is certainly one of them, but neither the Federal Reserve nor the Bank of England are printing money at the moment. If they were printing money they would not need to borrow money. Why would you borrow money at 5% if you can print it? Both countries are borrowing huge amounts, record amounts, ergo they are not printing noney. And you call your self an evonomist!
