The stench of Equities First, IQE and Drew Nelson - scumbags the lot of 'em

Drew Nelson is the scumbag who as CEO of IQE (IQE) persuaded thirsty share bloggers and other gullible souls that his low grade commodity business, based in the  rain sodden, post industrial, covid ridden, second world wastelands of South Wales which never generated a cent of cash was somehow a great growth stock. That justified paying Drew a vast salary but that was not enough to sate his greed.

IQE

IQE – lawsuit for which it argues it has “significant evidence”. But for a number of reasons far from ideal?

IQE plc (IQE) has announced it has filed a lawsuit in the U.S. Federal Court in California, stating it has “significant evidence” that Tower Semiconductor misappropriated IQE's trade secrets to unlawfully obtain patents on IQE's technology. Tower Semiconductor is a US-listed (Nasdaq - TSEM) circa $5 billion capitalised company which giant Intel is currently in the process of acquiring.

IQE

IQE – not even constant currency revenue growth and what about the bottom-line?!

IQE plc (IQE) states it is “pleased we have met our expectations and commitments for H1 2022… the group's view of the full year remains unchanged”. With it describing itself as “the leading supplier of compound semiconductor wafer products and advanced material solutions to the global semiconductor industry”, this good news then?

IQE

IQE – EBITDA bullshit again

The new CEO of IQE (IQE) - the chipmaker who seduced both Malcolm Stacey and thirsty Paul Scott - starts his reign where the old one left off, as dismal calendar 2021 results post today.  Will this company ever generate cash?

Balchder Cymru IQE: ci gyda chwain yn rhybuddio eto

Just how many profits, or rather lack of profits, warnings has IQE (IQE) issued during  the 21 years since its 2000 IPO at c400p. The shares are today 40p after the Pride of the Welsh tech sector added another warning to its, already extensive, collection. I hope that folks have listened to my warnings over many years that this is a dog with fleas, or ci gyda chwain as we say here in the post-industrial, rain sodden, second world province.

Trading a bad stock like IQE

There are two ways of viewing IQE plc (IQE). One, mine, is correct. The other, as pushed by the share promoters, the numerous corporate brokers and financiers who see its constant demands for fresh debt and equity as something of a gravy train, is not. Let’s start with those who are wrong.

IQE

IQE and what it does not say in its trading statement

Crafting a brief one side of A4 trading statement as chip maker IQE (IQE) has today is not exactly a great effort. This is not translating the complete works of Shakespeare into Hungarian and then onto Welsh. So if something is left out, you must ask why?

Remember What Doris Day Sang: The Future's Not Ours to Say.

Hello, Share Presenters. With the markets closed, and rather static anyway, I take the opportunity  to warn of a common pitfall I still fall into. Unlike most of my co-writers, my main strategy is to try to make educated predictions about the future, rather than rely on balance sheets which reflect the past. One of the main tools of this policy is to assess global trends.

Welsh Techno Pioneer, Once Battered on this Site, Could Be on the Right Wavelength with its New Longer erm ... Wavelengths

Hello, Share Sorters. Emboldened by my re-referring you to Avacta (AVCT) this week, let’s look at another share which Uncle Tom has worried about in the past. IQE plc (IQE) is a Cardiff techno firm employing 650 people that has seen huge jumps and falls in its share price over the last few years. It’s had its overvaluation issues during that time. However, there’s some news now that could put it back on the upward path...

The crucial fundamental question for skins is how large the Revenue from Croda will be and much more significantly the timing of those revenues. If we assume that substantial Revenue from Croda will be received in the year ending 30 June 2028 the valuation looks very stretched.Just think how many shares would have to be raised to cover plc costs to provide working capital for one two or three years.I have no axe to grind I am just doing the maths.Toyin has a very detailed grasp of the product and maybe feels substantial revenue being generated is much closer.

Good listen, thank you for the podcast. Tom, I was wondering whether you have an opinion on Medpal AI after yesterday's announcement of a conditional £5 million fundraise at 5p and the subsequent price action. This would be the 5th fundraise in 10 months (4 placings this year and an ATM death spiral in November 2025). Despite the conditional placing being at 5p, I noticed that the lowest the shares went yesterday was 5.3p, before being aggressively bid up to 6.3p today, so I am not sure whether you have an opinion on what is going on?
