Lords Group Trading – “pleased to announce completion of amendments to the covenant packages”, BUT…

In July on building, plumbing, heating and DIY products distributor Lords Group Trading (LORD), I wrote ‘“Trading Update” = a trading warning which dares not explicitly speak its name’ concluding even with the shares falling to around 13p with “recovery in our end markets is taking longer than expected” still avoid/sell. The shares most recently closed at 11.5p and what about now a “Trading Update & Banking Facility Amendments” announcement?

Billington – I having questioned in April how confident to really be of trading in line with market expectations, now a “Trading Update”…

Most recently on structural steel and construction safety company Billington (BILN), in April with the shares up to 370p I questioned how confident to really be in its stated “orderbook underpins our confidence in delivering… in line with market expectations”. The shares most recently closed at 410p but what about now a “Trading Update” including it “now expects that the group’s underlying profit before tax for FY26 will be… below current market expectations”.

Most recently on online fashion retailer ASOS (ASC), in September I wrote ‘emphasises “significant improvement in profit”, but is there any profit at all?’ and concluded to avoid with the shares up towards 480p. What about now its year ended 30th August 2026 results and the shares at 440p?

Chapel Down – having in September stated credit facility “provides ample headroom for growth”, now a “Proposed Capital Raising”!

Describing itself as “England’s leading winemaker”, Chapel Down Group (CDGP) has announced a proposed capital raising of up to £6 million for “investment in a new soft pressing facility at the company’s Tenterden winery, together with the additional working capital required to support the increased level of traditional method sparkling production resulting”. What about a current 44p share price in response?

FDM Group – “consultants assigned to clients has increased”, but how materially and what about the financials?…

Most recently on information technology consultancy staffing group FDM (FDM), in August with the shares falling back down below 120p I concluded the valuation and outlook meant just on the recovery watchlist. What of now a “Trading Statement” including “momentum in customer engagement has continued, and at 31 October 2026 the number of consultants assigned to clients has increased to 2,070” and the shares currently up in response but to still just above 104p?

Barry says "if this trade unwinds it does completely crash the economy" as if there is a way to avoid it. By some measures the biggest bubble the world economy has ever seen cannot be kept inflated indefinitely, nor can it be made to deflate slowly and gently float down. Or at least that has never been seen with the biggest bubbles the world has ever seen previously. Interesting times ahead.

Please produce some data to back up your claim that the government by which you mean the Bank of England as the government has no control over the money supply, is printing money. What is increasing, is it M1, M2 or M3 and by how much? I strongly suspect that the inflation we are seeing today is input cost inflation, largely caused by the increase in energy costs as a result of the war started by the orange faced idiot and his puppet master Netanyahu. Energy costs are pervasive, influencing every aspect of the economy and your suggestion of reducing the taxes on energy is populist nonsense. Would you have the government borrowing even more money than it is now, or dare I say it, printing money?

Benefits increases of 3.9%. public sector pay increases of 3.3%. 4.1% increase in minimum wage.I have no idea where some inflation comes from?Though of course all these people have to choose between heating and eating.

Money printing schmoney printing, what you say makes no logical sense. Inflation can have many causes and money printing is certainly one of them, but neither the Federal Reserve nor the Bank of England are printing money at the moment. If they were printing money they would not need to borrow money. Why would you borrow money at 5% if you can print it? Both countries are borrowing huge amounts, record amounts, ergo they are not printing noney. And you call your self an evonomist!

Not exactly a share structure designed to maximise liquidity or discount to NAV!!!Contains some good companies including my fave Zegona which has been on an absolute tear for 18 months and is fated to be taken out by Telefonica at £25-30 per share versus £17.5 now.À far easier to do 2x, though, is CHRY at 66p with a 130p NAV and is in wind up mode. Basically it is a 10% stake in Starling Bank plus some other stuff. Starling is an IPO in 2-3 years time on the NYSE (and also holds a very valuable software co, Engine). So there shd be 2 years worth of growth plus the elimination of the illiquidity discount on top of current NAV.Waz Shakoor says he has weighed in heavily on this name, as have I.
