Quintain (QED) has become a much more interesting story over the last few years. For those drawn to property investors with a strong focused proposition and proven, experienced management, NewRiver Retail (NRR) should appeal. It is a highly specialised UK REIT, focused on generating surplus cash for distribution in dividends. It invests in high yielding - around 9% pa – but well placed regional shopping centres, on its own and in conjunction with joint venture partners such as US bond investor PIMCO, from which it earns additional management fees.
As an investor and developer of modern office and business parks in Germany, Sirius Real Estate (SRE) has access to tenants from one of Europe’s most vibrant SME markets. Over the last few years it has reaped the benefits as it built out the kind of serviced offices, workspace and self-storage space which are common in the UK, but still relatively new in Germany.
There are distinct attractions to dividends underpinned by long term, secure revenues. The infrastructure funds and primary care property investors fit this category, and still offer attractive yields. Of the latter, MedicX Fund at 84.625p (MXF) currently yields a prospective 7%.
