Would you pay Warren Buffett one pound to manage 5 pence of your money? No? I didn’t think so. Would you pay anyone a quid to manage 5p of your cash (that’s right you break even after he or she has twenty bagged the investment) No? I think we can agree that you would be crazy to do so. No argument there.

All that I can offer you is some wisdom from the late lamented Bob Beckman, who died at the end of the last century. He said ‘the market will always do what it has to do to make sure that most people are mostly wrong most of the time’. So by some arcane means the fact that people are shorting Concha must be causing the shares to rally.I have no idea how that works, though.

Free float manipulation? Concha has looked a wrong’un ever since Chris Potts (the first stockbroker fined by the FSA for market abuse) took out a spread bet over 3-5% of the shares.

I tell you Slim – that Mr Potts still (even this year) seems to have a knack for taking significant positions JUST (for example, the day) before significant developments hammer share prices. The guy’s remarkable.

Re. CP again, perhaps he arrived at his decision to open a spread bet on CHA after reading the tea leaves – BOOM BOOM! Right – bedtime.

Wow, do you get paid for writing the fact you’re losing on a short. Cant see the respected columns queuing to sign you up somehow.
