I have just booked my flight to Athens next week. RyanAir (RYA) was the cheapest flight but once you add in the charge for taking one full suitcase the gap between it and British Airways narrowed. And do I really want to trek out to Stansted rather than go to Heathrow on the tube which is much cheaper for me? The cost gap narrows again. And then O’Leary’s website tried to nickel and dime me on insurance and I just gave up and went with BA.

Is it not possible for you to write an article without resorting to foul-mouthed language – who is your target audience?
Gentle Reader
> who is your target audience?
Obviously you are the target audience.
No one forced you to read this.
On the contrary, you deliberately opened your computer, launched a browser, went to ShareProphets, and read the article.
If you wonder why Winnifrith writes the way he does – it’s because YOU want to read it. If you are reading this, you can’t deny it.

Couldn’t agree more.got fed up with cattletruck mentality around two years ago, anyone noticed the cheesy tv ad’s portraying a family friendly airline, will definitely enjoy watching the shorters getting hold of it one day

Tom, will the hire car – I am assuming it’s hired – have Quindell telematics?
Maybe you could write a nice article about that – a sort of car review.
Okay, it was just a thought… a bit silly I know. It has been a hot afternoon

To Boyobhoy- I honestly knew a girl who had an unfortunate encounter with O’Leary in Ireland (think she said it was Cork), and apparently not only was he not exactly gallant but his language made that in this article to which I guess you’re objecting resemble little more than a mild curse that one might hear from a Tellytubby. I too avoid Ryanair where possible and have found Easyjet more than acceptable I did say apparently so don’t think that’s libellous (or is it slander if the medium is electronic?). In any event, he strikes me as the litigious type.

Bhoyobhoy,
Can I write an article without using foul language? WTF? Of course I can but I always held the Great Devil’s Kitchen blog ( sadly no more) as role model – libertarian and foul mouthed. Compared to it even M O’Leary is a model of decorum when it comes to language.
My target audience?
Well I guess I took a career detour up until two years ago when I rediscovered that to enjoy your life you need to establish every day who your target audience is.
So whenever I write my target audience is…me. Do I enjoy writing what I do? If not I’ve got life wrong. If other folks like it that is a bonus both in that it is personally gratifying and for commercial reasons.
The statistical evidence is that they do in ever increasing numbers.
As folks have noted above Ryanair does treat its customers with contempt and O’Leary’s persona is that of a foul mouthed oik and as such any article about O’Leary should be written in that vein to bring a smile to my face and – to give the man his dues – to his as well.

I never use Ryanair on principle. It seems that they actually take a perverse pleasure in being deliberately unpleasant. Nuts to them, life’s too short to suffer their ‘service’.

What amazes me is how many people go back over and over again to be treated like that why would you do it to save a fiver if anything at all…..travelling is bad enough without all the added stress of booking on flying on and being treated like ‘a feckin idiot’ by the airline. Just proves the old saying 1,000,000 flies can’t be wrong!
