For those unwise enough to not attend the UK Investor Show 2014 here is the full video of Ben Edelman’s presentation and the Q&A that followed. I found it compelling watching.

Thankx to Ben for a brilliant presentation – brimming with fascinating stuff and delivered with pace, clarity, wit and intelligence. I could listen to him all day.
And thankx to Tom W and shareprophets for providing the video. Would now be the right time to ask about the pop-up video commercials every 5 minutes, for Société Generale, Call of Duty, etc?
Have those blinking Blinkx blokes infected my computer with unsolicited adware? Or should I blame the aforementioned Tom W?
And what about the really annoying “Sign in to share via email” popup which plagues my every visit to shareprophets – presumably as some kind of punishment for having elected not to sign in?
If this is not Tom W’s dirty work, will he at least undertake to investigate all his sub- and sub-sub-contractors to find out who is responsible and put a stop to it?
Or will Tom W own up and explain that shareprophets is a free service so he has to make a buck somehow?
And would that also be true of the free web browsers we use and the free search engines we use?
Is it not simply a case of there being no such thing as a free lunch and that users of freely provided software and services must either accept popups and other adware intrusions or pay for the software they use?
Some advertisers may feel they aren’t getting a fair deal but they could have pre-empted some of the problems Ben illustrates by registering mis-spellings of their domain name.

ShareProphets does not use pop-up ads. The only on site ads are regular banner ads – one across the top and two on the side.
If you are getting pop-ups, you most likely have a virus. While you get that looked at, you might ask yourself what are the economics of those viruses? Who, in the end, makes the money.

No viruses here in Mactopia. But perhaps I have used the wrong term to describe the video commercials which interrupted Ben’s presentation video at 30mins, 35mins, 40mins and 45mins? I do hope Binkx haven’t hijacked you.
And perhaps you don’t call the shareprophets “Sign in to share via email” popup an ad? Would it help if I called it a persistent reminder?
(I’m not invested in Blinkx by the way – just a collector of ironies.)

The world of advertising online is massive. And maybe Blinkx have found a speed bump or two along the road, realistically like most growing businesses, however this is a huge growth area and they are exactly in the right spot to benefit, adjust, adapt and grow exponentially.
Ironically Benny boy may have potentially shown them the golden path to real success.

Thank you for that, Duck & Dive, I didn’t see the ads DailyMotion inserted. I have changed it to YouTube, which should be much less annoying.
The “Sign in to share via email” modal (Not a pop up!) only appears when you hover over the Email Article symbol.

Very convincing reasons why the visibility of future earnings for Blinkx is so foggy .
Sell ………… before you get caught out by the next set of whiffy revelations . Its a car crash waiting to happen just like Cupid .
