Watching Challenger Acquisition’s (CHAL) CEO, Mark Gustafson, doing yet another Proactive Investors interview this week with nothing new to say, albeit he said it very confidently, reminded me to finally post a piece that has been on my mind for a while about why this remains a strong bear pick for me.

Thanks for another insightful article, which I’m sure your clever analysis will find agreement amongst many readers here.
Without doubt Mr Mark Gustafson has a somewhat mediocre career which in itself will be a big red flag to many investors. Another CEO whom seems to have also had quite a remarkably unsuccessful business career, to date, is Mr Chris Cleverly of African Potash fame.
Noted from companies house, the twenty or so companies that have been associated with Mr Cleverly, many of which seemed to have specialised in Marketing/Media/ Real Estate/Trading/ Exploration in Africa, have all appeared to have gone bust and been dissolved.
Which makes the statement from Blenheim’s Chairman, Chris Ells, “I am delighted to welcome Chris Cleverly as a Non-Executive Director of the Company. Chris’ energy and vision will greatly complement the existing Blenheim board. Chris’ extensive experience will be highly valuable in progressing our investment strategy with its focus on the mining and extractive industry sector, particularly in Africa.” sound somewhat of a forlorn hope, eh?
