This is a very disappointing update and as you say, the timing of the RNS announcement was similar to the worst practice of very distressed or poorly managed organisations.
Further, there was no hint of impending problems when the AGM was held just under a month ago at the end of January (when 3 months of trading in the new year would be visible), nor in the prior year results announcement on 9th December, when the board would have seen two months trading of the new year. Indeed at this point, the company stated, “The first weeks of the current financial year show signs that the momentum carried through the previous quarter is continuing and provides sound encouragement.”
So the question is, does this company employ “fair weather managers” who can grow the business successfully, but when conditions change or become more difficult are unable to spot problems coming and then react late to new conditions?
