Another hat tip to reader Rudyard. Jabba The Hutt, aka, David Lenigas is a share promoter, and a good one – so far at least - , but the result is that shareholders in things like Rare Earth Minerals (REM) can end up over-paying. There is no doubt that the Sonora lithium deposit is very large, and in the fullness of time could generate substantial value. But that misses the point, which is that Rare is an investment company and one should therefore look at the share price in terms of the current market value of the individual components. This is important when you can get access to the same assets via investing directly, in other listed companies.

As I have been saying for ages ……… investment companies like this , like Metal tiger , like AFRI AG etc etc are a waste of space ……… invest direct and cut out the middle men and their on costs ( unless pre IPO is the target )
Nice piece, thoughtfully laid out which highlights this very well indeed . Excellent work.
Drunken Sailor
If the Market cap of the main investee company (BCN) is massively over inflated thanks to Leni Ramping and REM buying in the market to support the price then the picture is even worse!
It would be good to see a sensible analysis of the true value of BCN on a properly risk adjusted potential NAV basis – very hard to do as how much risk do you place on a totally unproven process for extracting LICO3 from mud when the grades are so low?
I am sure there is a mining expert or 2 in the Share Prophets stable that could have a reasonable stab and my money would be on BCN being overvalued by about 50%, thanks to Leni Ramping and REM buying in the market to support the SP.
You were exceptionally generous in the valuation of the Yangibana stake, what a thoroughly nice chap you are.
Nuna Nonsense - Worthington Group PLC "Nothing or Nothing"
Great call Rudyard!
On Rare-Earth Rip-Offs Tom, whats the story on Nuna and Worthington Group PLC?
Been very quiet here but activities in Greenland this past week suggest Whyte / Earley / Biggar might be in a position to repeat the Rangers trick in taking on the debts of another large bankrupt organization for a nominal price. Nuna also comes with a ready to ramp listing in Copenhagen that could save the embarrassment of conceding a prospectus or retrospective LSE compliance for WRN is impossible .
