Rangers International Football Club Stockmarket Re-float –up to £20 million to be raised

Rangers International Football (RFC) recently announced the appointment of Peterhouse Corporate Finance as its ISDX advisor, and sources close to the deal say that ISDX is desperate for RIFC to join its junior market in London. A few uncertainties remain.

    AHHHHHHHHHHHHH, the beautiful bountiful game.

  2. Is this a new series of articles where vile bigots are given a platform to discuss their favourite investment ideas?

What next I wonder. Nick Griffin discussing opportunities in Africa and the Middle East? Anjem Choudray covering the investment case for Diageo?

  3. Tom,

I enjoy reading your articles but I really think you should do some background checks into the ‘journalists’ that you collaborate with.

‘Phil Mac Giolla Bháin’ is a laughable fantasist whose obsession with all things Rangers should have the men in white coats knocking on his door.
His ‘exclusives’ over the last month include the startling revelation that Rangers have only managed to sell 8,000 season tickets (the true figure is 30,000+) and that the Rangers directors were receiving salaries of thousands of pounds per week (Rangers announced that the directors receive no remuneration).
His modus operandi is quite simple. Make up a ridiculous story and claim that if Rangers do not deny it then it must be true.
It is interesting that he has now put his name to a story that Rangers are on the brink of raising £20 million when he has been stating consistently that Rangers would eventually go into administration again.

He has been wrong on virtually every detail of the Rangers story since Dave King took over. Combine this with his juvenile and offensive descriptions of Rangers and their fans. He describes Rangers fans as an ‘underclass’, ‘the klan’ and ‘Herrenvolk’.
    Rangers are ‘stalag sevco’?!

The man’s work is truly toxic and personally I wouldn’t want my own name on a byline next to his.

  4. L

Deliberately – knowing I was co-writing this today I am wearing an Ulster Rugby shirt. I know full well who Phil is.

As it happens the facts here are correct. I verified.

    t

  5. Tom,

you verified. So what part did Phil of the many names play in the story?
Did he give you access to his ‘man in the city’ or any of his numerous ‘well-placed source[s]’?

  6. Tom, I’m sure the likes of Chris Oil occasionally uncovers a nugget of information which proves to be correct. But any sensible investor gives them a wide berth due to what we could politely term credibility issues. So it should be with this individual.

As it happens nothing in this article is particularly controversial and an awful lot of the information is already in the public domain. Rangers still have just over 40 million unissued shares. Issuing them at say 30p (mid before suspension was 35.5p) would raise 12 bernies. But of course any board of directors would look to raise as much as possible while things are good. A more attractive style of play and a sensible player recruitment policy has paid off already. Season ticket sales are up. The ground was full for the first league game at home. Sales for the second league game are looking like another full stadium. If the board wasn’t looking to take advantage of the feel good factor, they would be failing in their roles. If that also means diluting diluting Mike Ashley, so much the better.

I’ve no doubt that everything in this story is correct, but even a broken clock is correct occasionally.

  7. Chaps

I am still wearing my ulster rugby shirt. My family hail from Donegal but were settlers. I have made my views on Gerry Adams and the IRA very clear. I regard the politics of my co-author as loathsome. But I verified the facts and Phil does have some insight into Rangers matters that interest me so we talk. He knows where I stand on Irish matters and I know where he stands. But I am not going to refuse to work with him just because of that.

Heck I work with Malcolm Stacey who reads the Guardian! I am tolerance personified.

One of the most loathsome aspects of Scottish life is the way that folks can be dismissed as having irrelevant views just because they are a blue nose or a left footer. I sense some of the attacks on Phil are driven by that agenda although his strident views do invite that.

I want nothing to do with this sectarian bigotry. I simply reported the facts re Rangers. As I have always done. Get over it. This story (above) is accurate

    T

  8. Tom, if you don’t want anything to do with sectarian bigotry then don’t associate with sectarian bigots. I seriously doubt that the individual who wrote the TAL Fanzine blog on the 27th of March 2013 has any great love for Rangers FC. Yet they seem quite happy to describe Phil as a sectarian bigot.

On the one hand you have Steve Moore’s pieces on Rangers, which despite many of them being fairly negative, don’t attract much in the way of comments at all. Then on the other hand you have this fairly neutral piece and you have been told several times that your co-author is a sectarian bigot.

There are clearly several possibilities here (many possibilities perhaps). But let’s limit ourselves to a couple. One could be that Rangers fans will attack anybody who writes negative comment as a sectarian bigot. Well perhaps the odd loony might, but I think Steve’s pieces rather disprove this hypothesis. A second possibility could be that your co-author is in fact a sectarian bigot. There is certainly enough evidence in existence to at least hint at the possibility.
