New World Oil & Gas; Why the forward sellers must pay

Tom last night published this charming bear cast. Buried deep within his signature potty-mouthed tirade he made some points, which demand addressing. Tom would have us believe that the poor old forward sellers should be given a gimme by the London Stock Exchange and let off the hook for the appalling losses they are going to suffer, as soon as New World Oil & Gas (NEW) resumes trading. This is wishful thinking for very simple and practical reasons, as I explain below. What is about to happen to the forward sellers of New World’s placement could prove to be the caustic cleansing experience that the Alternative Investment Market is in such desperate need of.

  1. Ben Well said mate… I remember Toms bear-cast a week or so back where he was talking about ig footing the bill for people with positions open when the Swiss debaccle struck, Tom was telling them to “Get real” and then last night telling holders to “Have Mercy” what a bloody hypocrite … If people expose them selves to such a market on the hope of making a quick buck at the expense of others with what would seem completely minimal research then i’m affraid occasional they might wish they hadn’t.

Even if the company wants to suspend their shares there really seems little way out other then playing it out till the end. I’m holding and I will remain holding as the SP starts rising… I would suggest all holders do the same I’m sure the seasoned few will do !!!

    Good article.

  2. Great stuff by both of you.
Where can I get my Justice for the shorters teeshirt ?

  3. Ben Turney

@catempire – that is an excellent point, which I think I will have to raise with the Sheriff

@Marvin – drop @Tomwinnifrith a line. That T-Shirt might sell thousands to investors on AIM, who have a good old fashioned ironic British sense of humour

  4. As I understand it the Quindell trades that were cancelled were trades after the time from which the shares has been suspended (126 trades in 2 mins 4 secs)

TW: no it was the time between announcement of susp and actual susp

  5. I think we may be saying the same thing. There was an announcement timed at 9.40 that the shares were suspended from 9.40 and trades between 9.40 and 9.42.04 (when presumably trading actually stopped) were cancelled

  6. DUCK AND DIVE

Ask and it shall be given. £4.99 or two for £12:

  7. got it now, chrisoil heard broker was working on a dipper placing so got broker to buy some in his accountants name then shorted his placing allotment to make 50 grand profit if the placing goes ahead. tom w says vote yes to help his mate do a nice casino trade, ben says vote no to teach vermin a lesson as he’ll then make a loss on his casino trade

TW note: You are a prick. ChrisOil not my mate. Do you see him writing here anymore? I do not behave like that & you have zero evidence that CO does either. You are such a total prick

  8. UpandUnder

Ben, you are 100% right with this issue and have explained it perfectly. These shorters just saw what they thought was an opportunity to make a quick buck. If they can’t read an RNS properly before entering a trade, I don’t see why anybody should have any sympathy at all for them?

  9. Having read both sides of the argument today, after being away for a few days I have to side with Ben . Toms agonised plea’s did sound oh so uncomfortable . So much so that one has to ask whether people close to him in some way had taken out ill advised shorts and he was agonised because of their foolish peril .
If you dont want infinite losses then dont indulge in shorting or at the very least make sure that you are right about the facts that affect the situation . Many things in life can wipe people out financially and cause suicidal thoughts . This however is one that is totally self inflicted . Read the risk warnings people …….. shorting can seriously damage your wealth …..leave it to Evil ……… he does at least know what he is doing 9 times out of ten .

TW Note. I have stated that I have no friends who I knew were short. On that basis if you can accuse me of being a liar, I can acdcuse you of being a total wanker. Fair enough?

  10. No one said anything about them being friends of yours or you being a liar . “ Close” was a word carefully chosen . Have you never heard of the expression “ keep your friends close and your enemies closer” Thus kind sir , it is you who is the wanker in this matter , not infact I ………. still, I suppose there cant be much else to do in Greece these days ;-) Not that I would know of course . Funny thing you should mention that tho . I was in PC World today getting a new lappy for “err in doors” and the spotty ouik tried to sell me the usual warranty on top of the makers warranty . “theres only one mechanical damage thats not covered in our warranty he proclaimed “ whats that? I said …….. “ body fluids on the laptop” he said ………….. Oh! I said , you wont be eligible then . There was an awkward pause in which he went rather red in the face and then said “If you have a cut on your hand and get blood in the keyboard ……..stuff like that” oooh …..I said .
Dont get your lappy in PC world if you want a warranty Tom ;-) And deffo not that “Lad you gooey”.
