For what its worth…….
I’m a long term holder in Diageo…… an attractive blend of excellent defensive qualities with attractive growth prospects.
I like the current company strategy of further penetration and consolidation in the worlds biggest emerging markets to enhance growth and offset any slowdown in more traditional markets.I would argue that Diageo’s, admittedly current demanding current PE, reflects the markets confidence in the companies stratagem with further delivery of enhancing earning and increasing dividends.

Damned right Malcolm. The world would be a better place if more people drank more frequently and refrained from the consumption of wholegrain produce, methinks – if only I could afford to relocate to Rhayader in Wales, where it would seem men are men and the petty bourgeoisie are routinely pilloried!

So there we have it, that’s as authoritative as it gets – let’s all hit the booze and pay our dues!

Thanks, gang. Axy, I’m not familiar with Mitchell and Butler pubs, so don’t really know if they are a better bet than Wetherspoon, but I suppose my same arguments apply to this company, too. Spaggers and Alcers: too right!
