Previously writing on “sustainable fuels technology company” Velocys (VLS), at the end of last month with the shares slumping to 0.30p I concluded it’s ‘good luck to it raising required funding from here and hopefully my prior warning was heeded. The clear risk suggests still sell/Bargepole’. So what of today a “Funding update and statement re possible offer” announcement?
Writing last week on Velocys (VLS) with the shares at 1p and the company “delighted to announce” the launch of a new technology facility having “already hired a number of senior personnel”, I suggested clear financing concerns in a highly challenging financing environment and concluded Bargepole. So what of a “Funding update” announcement today?
Sustainable fuels technology company Velocys (VLS) “is delighted to announce the launch of its new 52,500 sq. ft technology facility in Plain City, Ohio that will house the reactor core assembly and catalysis operations which form a critical part of the production process for sustainable aviation fuel”. So what of a current 1p share price, £16.5 million market cap here?
A “Strategy/Company/Ops Update”-titled announcement from sustainable fuels technology company Velocys (VLS) sounds ordinary enough... but the shares are currently 7.5p in response, more than 27% lower. The headline is bland, the news is bad. Very bad.
Previously writing on Velocys (VLS), last week I noted a “Trading Statement” speeding ticket with the shares falling towards 13p though still concluding since the share price compares to below 3p little more than a month ago – was the company forced to make the statement? Still however ‘opportunity’ for a necessary fundraising? – at a discount (natch) with a currently still more than £84 million market cap. Bargepole / sell. Now this ‘sustainable fuels’ technology company “is pleased to announce that… it has raised gross proceeds of £20 million… accelerates our ability to provide commercial scale turn-key solutions”...
Velocys (VLS) has updated including of “implementing procedures which have allowed the company to operate close to ‘Business as usual’ during this period. Progress has been made on all aspects of the business and all critical milestones have been met… now within reach of being able to offer a tangible solution to support decarbonisation of air travel”. The shares have currently responded towards 13p, more than 10% lower!...
A “secured a further £1m funding for the Altalto waste-to-fuels project from British Airways PLC and Shell” announcement from Velocys (VLS) – and the shares up from around 2.5p to still well above 3p, capitalising it at well above £20 million...
