SULA

Valuation lifted for Sula project

Buccaneering Frank Timis’s African Minerals (AMI) may have put its 12.8 billion-tonne flagship Tonkolili iron ore project in Sierra Leone on care and maintenance and had its shares suspended at a small fraction of their float price as the company pursues urgent negotiations about its financial future. But Sula Iron & Gold (SULA), with a somewhat more modest West African iron ore project next door to Tonkolili at Ferensola, is taking a determinedly upbeat view of its own prospects, in the wake of a 50% increase in Ferensola’s technical value in 12 months to $56 million (£37 million), accorded by ubiquitous consultancy group SRK.

SULA

Reinvention for Sula

As iron ore struggles to find friends following a 50% price slump to less than $70 a tonne, amid the collapse of London Mining and the finance crunch at African Minerals, and gold languishes unloved at $1,189.69c an ounce, Sula Iron Ore & Gold (SULA) is determinedly seeking to shift its focus and how it is perceived. Based in London and quoted on AIM, the West Africa-concentrated company, whose primary asset is the Ferensola project in northern Sierra Leone, a state in the front-line for ebola, has raised nearly £1.2 million to explore and develop what it regards as promising prospects there for niobium and tantalum.

SULA

Buy Sula Iron and Gold

11 months ago, shares in Sula Iron and Gold (SULA) went on a run from 1.3p to 7.75p, an increase of nearly 500%, due to excitement about the potential iron and gold resources at its Ferensola licence in Sierra Leone. Since then, cash has been raised and drilling taking place in order to establish two JORC compliant resources.

SULA

Sula cheer on iron and gold

Bears fret about a potential global oversupply of iron ore and a weakening of China’s demand for the stuff as the People’s Republic’s economy slows. However, Nick Warrell, chief executive officer of Sula Iron & Gold (SULA), determinedly exudes cheerful confidence as the company works to establish a formal resource estimate for its Ferensola iron project in the mineral-rich West African state of Sierra Leone.

SULA

Buy Sula Iron & Gold at 1.8p

Sula Iron & Gold (SULA) came to AIM at 6p back in 2012  and like the rest of its peers it has seen its share price tank ever since. But I reckon that now is a time to buy – there are a few clear reasons to consider investing in a small Iron & Gold miner in Sierra Leon.

Ocado has had a very good run over the last 3 months and is up nearly 80%. It’s off a bit and any general market sell off is going to hit anything considered a tech stock especially hard. I’d say it looks a good call to short.

Why worry about France 10 year 4.92% today, having a better day ( avoided a downgrade) at the same time the basket case seems to be UK 10 year 5.35% and that is before the budget.German 10 year 3.37%.Everything seems to be a worry. Is it the nights drawing in and the rainy/stormy weather? The heating going on after a glorious summer, adds to costs! It starts to feel like cash is king and dividend paying stocks is the place to be.Though the government might increase the tax companies pay on dividends, decreasing the value of dividends paid to shareholders, a socialist government would claim it only effects the rich.Stocks and Shares ISAs in the UK stands at approximately £531.2 billion if dividends are £25 billion a year a 10% increase on dividends before they reach your ISA would raise £2.5 billion.I would not put anything past these socialist bastards.

"The big banks / financial system are healthy now"With $40T from the Fed balance sheet and similarly frightening amounts elsewhere in the Western economies all dependent on "the confidence of strangers" I'd say that is quite the assumption. With talk of a potential bail out for France, the ECB is damned if it does, or doesn't. A big domino to topple.

Was there not there an article from Tom suggesting that if the market tanks that gold would also follow ( albeit less so and for a shorter period ). Based on that advice, and looking at charts, surely the best advice is to be in cash, certainly in the short term, earning a good interest payment. There is a distinct possibility that interest rates are exactly where they should be ( normal levels ) and will be for a while ( if not higher ). It was an anomaly having them where they were after the gfc. The big banks / financial system are healthy now, that's the big difference. I'll be watching Berkshire Hathaway and decide what to do when they start to reduce their cash reserves in a meaningful way.
