PZ Cussons (PZC) has announced that Jan Bramall is to join the company and its board as CFO and that it is “delighted that Jan is joining PZ Cussons. She is a seasoned CFO with a strong track record of achievement across a variety of industries… She is currently Interim Chief Financial Officer at Severfield plc. Before that she was Chief Financial Officer of Manchester Airports Group for more than five years, playing a key role in delivering major transformation projects. Prior to MAG, Jan held senior finance roles at Tyco and Johnson Controls”. What about this “Directorate change” and a current 74.5p share price for this ‘consumer goods’ company?
PZ Cussons (PZC) has issued a “Conclusion of Strategic Review of Africa”-titled announcement headlined “Retaining Africa business with ambitious growth plans”. However, as recently as 20th November this ‘consumer goods’ company was stating it “expects to announce the outcome of the strategic review of its Africa business by the time it reports FY26 interim results on Wednesday 11 February”, so what of that outcome announcement already now?
The CEO of consumer goods company PZ Cussons (PZC), Jonathan Myers, commences the company’s half-year ended 2nd December 2023 results announcement with that “PZ Cussons is a stronger business than when we launched our new strategy, as demonstrated by our ninth consecutive quarter of like for like revenue growth and, on a constant currency basis, double-digit operating profit growth in the first half of the financial year”. So what of a current below 110p share price in response, more than 15% down?
I think I have attended one or two AGMs in my life…and that was frankly one or two too many. I know some people regard them as an essential part of the investment analytical process but, if I want to ask a tough question, I can do that on a conference call (preferably online). Unsurprisingly, I will not be attending today’s PZ Cussons (PZC) AGM despite owning a few shares over the last couple of quarters, but I am all over today’s trading update like a rash…
