Having asked for readers tips for 2017 for the amazing prize of a meal with Tom Winnifrith (or the chance to fob it off on someone you don't like) HERE, the following is a monthly update on performance (to be eligible needed to have selected, on a per username basis, a buy & sell pick from the LSE or AIM Casino and the stocks not to have been suspended at the commencement of 2017)...

At the UK Investor Show on Saturday I got chatting to a group of likely lads who were in celebratory mode, having enjoyed considerable success of late at momentum trading AIM resource stocks. Bushveld Minerals (BMN) was a name that cropped up, so I decided to have a quick look.

I explained some time ago why I thought that the management of Bushveld Minerals (BMN) had treated retail investors with clear contempt and why that made the stock uninvestable. In the short term this can go anywhere, in the long run shares in companies run by scumbags usually head south. I wake up and find that the shares are now 7p and so - with a lot of "assistance" from a great broker we can note.
In yesterday's bearcast I commented on the latest pump and dump by Bushveld Minerals (BMN). My attention is now drawn to a promotional video recorded by CEO Fortune Mojapelo on 17 October. This is just so sordid.
Vanadium isn’t a metal that I am that familiar with, but it is found in many everyday items where it is commonly used as an additive to steel to manufacture things such as gears, or anything else that needs to be wear-resistant, and more recently in batteries to store energy.
Broker Brandon Hill has a corporate relationship with Bushveld Minerals (BMN) so take what follows with a pinch of salt. However in a note out yesterday it exploians why the deal to buy Evraz vanadium assets makes sense and looks to be a good one for Bushveld.
Having spotted the appointment of another joint Broker to AIM-listed Bushveld Minerals (BMN) on 8 April – see HERE – I had wondered if it was placing ahoy. Last Thursday saw the suspension of the shares announced by AIM at lunch-time, pending an announcement, although it took until after-hours on Friday for the company to bother to comment.
AIM-listed Bushveld Minerals (BMN) this afternoon announced the appointment of Beaufort as joint Broker to the company. As fine fellows as they are at Beaufort, and I’m sure they’ll do a jolly good job for the company it does rather look to be a slam-dunk certainty that there is a placing on the way. Back in September 2015 Mirabaud was appointed as joint broker. One wonders how many brokers the company needs!
John Meyer of SP Angel this morning comments on Amur Minerals (AMC), Berkeley Energia (BKL), Bushveld Minerals (BMN), Noricum Gold (NMG), Shanta Gold (SHG) and Xtract Resources (XTR) as well as offering a detailed macro view on the news that is shaping global mining and the AIM mining pond.
