I would add: 1. I don't advocate going
"all-in"; at its peak my short in IES would have had a position size
of about 7% of my total portfolio. "Position size" is the total
value of the short position (ie number of shares x price) divided by the net
value of my portfolio (how much it would be worth if everything was
sold). Because I'm using gearing (mainly spread bets) this means that all
of the position sizes added together is greater than 100%.Under normal circumstances I
wouldn't go over 6% for a position size because I like to think that I'm
practicing some sort of risk control, even though many people out there think
that I'm being recklessly risky just by shorting to begin with! Everyone
that I know who spread bets says the same thing: you manage your risk by
controlling your position size, and I broadly agree with
that. Invinity went over 6% because the price moved against me at
one point but these things happen.2. Everyone needs to learn
position sizing for themselves because it ties in with your tolerance for
risk. There's no point religiously copying someone else's position sizing
if you 💩 your
pants when the price swings more than 10% against you and the person that
you're copying simply laughs at 50% swings and doubles their position!
The key thing is that you have to be able to sleep at night!3. Whilst Nigel Farage brought "PFL" into the lexicon of the whole of the UK it's a well known term throughout the City and comes with one simple rule: you do not go back to the office after a PFL!Evil Bansta
The very idea i would be "naked" at Sharestock 2027 is a non-starter - you don't have enough sick buckets...As for riding a donkey - i tried a horse many years back - just the once (despite the then Mrs having loads of them in the fields my hard work had bought). No gears and the brakes were shocking...Meanwhile I do have to wonder if the Visionary Lord Sir Evil Bankster's articulated and evidenced comments at prior sharestocks about share price rise just prior to placing is now in play? red flag? we will see!
times were far tougher then, it was hard to get funding for anything. But AM screwed it up. AM extracted SFA from Nalunaq, are you saying that AMRQ is lying about the 500,000 to 2m oz?Nurse really does need to up your meds
hard to justify 1.2 million in commission i would have thought 30k would have been more the ball park how many hours work was this to raise the money seems a bit of a broken system?
If the asset is good, you don't need death spiral funding. Obviously there is gold there but it remains to be seen whether it can be mined profitably and over time. Angel gave Nalunaq a life of 5 years max but they went under after two. Meanwhile, there's no Greenland gold rush. Maybe Amaroq can make it work in that extreme and inaccessible place but others before them, with much more gold mining experience, thought the same thing.
True, Angel Mining went bust; but they never got up to viable production levels so they ran out of cash. They were more interested in Black Angel anyway.
