Following Tom Winnifrith launching the Great British Takeover stakes prize competition, I noted I would monitor the performance of the leading picks, 'The Takeover 12', until we have a contest winner. Last month it was The Takeover 12 remain down after over a month but by slightly less than previously and since it has been the same again though with this time the indices also slightly improving. The full detail follows...
Auction Technology Group (ATG) has issued an announcement which “confirms that it has today received from FitzWalter a notice requiring the board to call a general meeting” and also states that it “is disappointed that FitzWalter has chosen to send a requisition notice… believes this does not reflect the significant progress and momentum in the business”. What about this from an around 480p share price?
If you need an idea for the prize contest feel free to use this one. Please please keep sending in entries. In today's podcast I look at Pantheon (PANR), Pensana (PRE), Valereum (VLRM), BSF Enterprise (BSFA), Kendrick (KEN) and, of course, Georgina Energy (GEX).
Asset manager Brett Rentmeester warns that we are entering a “Fourth Turning”—a roughly 100-year crisis cycle in American history, following the American Revolution, Civil War, and Great Depression/WWII.
‘Iron casting and machining group primarily focused on the European heavy truck market’, Castings plc (CGS) has issued a trading update commencing including “the order book remains strong across the group”, so what about a current share price response 6.5% lower to below 260p?
To win an off peak holiday at the Greek Hovel simply send 300-999 words to tomat49@gmail.com on one UK listed stock capitalized at more than £10 million whose shares you expect to collapse, preferably to zero, but are not yet suspended. The deadline to enter is midnight on Saturday but why tarry. Fourth up is reader A who won the previous Greek Hovel contest and would love to go back with Ocado (OCDO)
Georgina Energy (GEX) has posted an RNS today on its problems drilling the Mount Hussar project. It denies what is in black and white, the minutes of Wiluna Shire 29thJuly, which show the real reasons. Georgina is simply accusing Shire of lying so I have written to Shire’s CEO Matt McIntyre ccing in my contact at the FCA. This RNS stinks and is in itself another reason why thus stock is utterly uninvestable even back at 7.9p. My target is 0p or suspension. I write.
Describing itself as “one of Europe’s largest hostel groups”, Safestay (SSTY) has issued a “Trading Update” including “year-to-date trading remains below the board’s original expectations”. However previously, with the shares at 8.5p, I concluded including the balance sheet still not “supporting the delivery of its long-term strategic growth ambitions”, so what about now after this latest trading update?

WeCap (WCAP) shares are now trading at 0.225 pence valuing the company at £1 million. This is significantly lower than the 1 year high of 3.15p when I wrote my article of 5 December 2025 “Detailed Report: WeCap – not as a great an opportunity as it seems, the nest of vipers on the promote.” Those vipers included Zak Mir and Big Gib. My bear case has effectively been proven correct.
There are still those in denial that the 29 July minutes of the Shire of Wiluna council show that Georgina Energy (GEX) grotesquely mislead punters ahead of 4 fund raises totalling £5 million in August. For the doubters there is now also an audio recording. Starting at 23 minutes.
Gold closed the week at $3,995 – below the $4,000 mark and down from last week’s $4,164 as it seemed to succumb to capitulation. Gold stocks also suffered as can be seen on the chart below (courtesy of ADVFN) of Gold against its mining ETFs GDX, GDXJ and GOEX which plumbed depths not seen since early August: the bounce since then is most certainly over.

In a disaster, speed matters. However, a warning only helps when people receive it clearly and in time. This graphic, in partnership with Lloyd’s Register Foundation, shows how the share of people able to take action rises with more warning channels, using data from the World Risk Poll.
