Why Do Some Share Writers Constantly Praise Shares They Don’t Own? Shares are Real, not An Imaginary Game

Right this a more ‘personal’ article than most but it’s something that’s been on my mind for a while. I really don’t understand why some share writers will constantly praise a share... and then not own it. Literally on some sites some writers will write probably hundreds of articles often being in favour of a share, praising it and saying how it is good value, lauding its competitive advantages... and then not own the share. It just makes me wonder.

Comments

  1. Hi Tom,

It definitely wasn’t made as an attack on any ShareProphets writers. Being directly honest I was feeling a bit annoyed generally when I wrote that article but I still think it has some interesting points.

I can’t think of one instance really where a ShareProphets writer has liked a stock a lot but not owned it- which is good.

However please understand that share investing is not a hobby for me. I have a six figure share portfolio. I believe that I will be investing all my life and spend hours every day (even Christmas) learning more.

I mean in terms of being a pro writer… I couldn’t call myself one really but I have written some worldwide selling books, over 32,000 viewers on my website reading my stuff… and have been paid to write many other different subjects. I love writing and don’t really do it for the money. I spent eighteen months writing my novel for below the minimum wage… but I’m still glad I did so. I like creating something original and the flow feeling more than the money… although that is nice too!

  2. When you get home from school , before you settle into your homework , ask your mum about a concept called “ conflict of interest” It permeates UK law and business regulations and is the reason and answer to the question you posed .

Ever heard of a saying “ dont bite the hand that feeds you” ?

  3. Wildrides, it sounds like you do not really understand the concept yourself. The real conflict is the scribbler working for the broker whose boss makes fat fees from a client and cannot bear it when junior wants to make a hold/sell recommend but is told to keep firing out the buy tip.

  4. Filthy a’hole

You make yourself look ever more stupid every time you post here. I favour free speech so I published Mark’s article even though the poor fellow was talking bollocks.

I then exercised my right to free speech by pointing out why he was talking bollocks.

I then approved mark’s comment back. And shortly I shall approve Mark’s next article.

What part of free speech am I missing? Mark can submit what he wants as can any other writer here.

You really are such an a’hole – please go post your nonsense on the LSE QPP asylum, you will be among friends and folks of a similar mental level to yourself.

    T
