Hello Share Scribblers. I’ve not looked at Old Mutual (OML) before. A pity. Because it’s been one of the most reliable of our insurance/pension/ asset management /banking giants in the Footsie. It’s one of the day’s biggest gainers as I write this, but there’s still room for the share price to sparkle further.

There was an article in the FT some time back explaining that OML’s reliance on relatively risky African assets is holding the share price down, thus explaining the low P/E and high Yield figures. Their opinion was that if it managed to reposition itself in the first world there would be a significant re-rating of the SP.
I do not agree that they’re going to outperform that markets just because they’re an old company.
