After Tom’s revelation yesterday about LeniGas Cuba’s… how to put this… “mysterious” leap in popularity on Twitter, we’ve been wondering at ShareProphets who else out there likes to pretend they are more popular than they actually are? As it turns out, this is a fun game and here’s how you can play along too.

You mean those stunning girls who favourite the odd Tweet of mine and send the odd message asking if I want to see more photos, yet seem to have no interest in shares yet follow my Tweets anyway, aren’t real?
You’ve just ruined my weekend

Hi,
Interesting article, and I had never heard of the Twitter audit before, so worth reading for that alone.
My site scored 94%.
I was surprised, because I have never bought or otherwise manipulated my followers, they are all genuine as far as I am concerned! So 94% is disappointing to say the least, it should be 100%.
Not sure how they assess who is real and false, but I don;t want false followers, I prefer a smaller relevant group than an army of people without any interest.
So this may be a good system, but I would question the accuracy of their results.

You’ll always get the odd fake follower – they want you to notice them, get nosey and click on what ever their web link is.

Not sure about this, I checked a few and the larger the following, the larger the fakes, but never so many that the person in question is buying them. If you were buying, you’d buy 10,000 or so.

You should worry Gary ……….. my Missus enrolled me on that Sky pee thingy ……. what ever that is . I never used it once . Then all of a sudden about six months ago I started getting birds from America wanting to be friends on the bottom of me screen . Try explaining that to the Missus when it goes ping and some bird in Texas wants to know if you are on tonite for a good hard s…..g . Takes a bit of explaining ! Me thinks someone has sold off their data base to a local Texas brothel !
