Self important fund manager Neil Woodford flagged up concerns about biotech valuations the other day. Discussing inter alia Plethora (PLE) another bit of a disappointment for my good friend Jim Mellon I look at how investors do and should value such stocks and tend to agree with Woodford that right now risk reward are out of kilter.

I invest in biotech because you are putting money into helping that company solve a medical problem and you could end up making some money back. If you give to a charity you are guaranteed nothing back. If you are investing in biotech it’s about believing in what they do and not about the money and that’s my aspect on investing in the biotech. I do not give to charities but invest in the companies that could solve the problems and care very little about getting my money back on this sector. Good Bearcast by the way.:)

I enjoy your Bearcasts . Whilst you may be correct about plethora it would seem you have an unhealthy and potentially biased view of anything to do with Jim Mellon clearly from your historic dealings . I can understand if you make quick jibes which in general fit in to your way of journalism . As a suggestion You should personally refrain from analysing his investments as it may be seen by your audience to be a personal vendetta . There’s so many other bear stocks to concentrate your efforts on . Any analysis of jm related stocks may rightly or wrongly make people think you have alterior motives and detract from your good work and Could lead to question your integrity . Perhaps integrity is not the correct word but i hope you get my drift.

I have tipped Jim Mellon stocks in the past. And praised him where praise is due. But the times they are a changing. Watch that French video. Things are happening. I am not going to miss out on this one.
