Scratch away at the surface of New Old Range Resources (RRL) and it is obvious nothing material has changed since Peter Landau left the company in disgrace. The same cabal of business associates appear as intent as ever on bleeding the company dry. At the head of this group, at least as far as Range is concerned, now stands new non-executive Chairman, David Chen. Mr Chen has no operational oil and gas experience. However, he was paid 42,742,654 unlisted 1p options as an “advisor” in the murky Abraham investment. It certainly pays well to be an associate of Mr Landau’s, less well if you are misfortunate enough to be one of his shareholders…

You have done a really great job here, highlighting the despicable actions of these greedy and untrustworthy gentleman, dedicated to nothing more than promoting their own interests and self enrichment at the expense of ordinary investors sucked in by lies and deceit, now robbed blind of what little is left.
Can we expect the FCA to launch any sort of investigation into your exposures of these highly questionable dubious transactions, Ben? Sorry, stupid question!
I would love, the guys at ShareProphets to compile a sort of ‘top twenty hit list’ of the most unsavoury, disgraced, train wrecking, greedy, self promoting, self enriching bosses and directors. A brief CV of their ‘business history’?
Maybe, folk would find something like that a useful tool in deciding investment issues?
Ben Turney
@Alcira – That is a good idea and not a million miles away from a thought I’ve had for a while. I think a “Rogues’ Gallery” would be an excellent idea
As for the FCA/AIM Regulation taking any action – I fear there is more chance of a Pete Landau company delivering genuine operational performance!!!!

The really sad and frightening thing is that the likes of sharp as a tack Landau are light years ahead of the nodding desk blotters at the FCA. He is extremely intelligent, almost to a point where he is so brazen with it he can say and do anything, and the confabulated trails he leaves behind rarely get picked up. Purely because it would seem like too much trouble to even start to unpick. This is how manipulators get away with it imo. If you say a thing convincingly enough, and in broad daylight, few in authority even seem to challenge it. Pathetic.

Spoilt Git ,
Landau seems to leave all the other shysters for dust . Can you think of any others over the years who are even on his level ?
I bet all those desk blotters at the FCA have defined benefits pensions so it’s not like they will ever have to use any of the products they regulate themselves . No danger of having any skin in the game .

Nasty looking RNS arrived from range this evening. Lind calling in the loan
Ben Turney
@Mark – it’s a terrible RNS and can have come as no surprise to anyone.
@SG and Striebs – No doubt Landau is a very clever man, but that is no excuse for the total failure of the LSE and FCA to police this market.

I want to sell my range shares now. I hope they relist before they call in administrators, there will not be any assets left to sell as Landau and land ocean have bought them all for a song without having to deal with administrators who would sell them to the highest bidder. Oh dear.

Ben, great work as always. The mind boggles.
I really like the rogues gallery idea. You should include nomads and brokers as well as directors. You should call it “The Hall of ShAIM”

Striebs, good ol’ PL just gets right back in the saddle for another round of sheer villainry somewhere else, flashing his gap tooth like a modern-day Dick Turpin, only with even less scruples. It beggars belief how anyone would invest in anything with this man’s name attached to it.

Spoiled Git ,
PL doesn’t have the poster boy looks of Bill Kelleher , another person unencumbered by scruples .
The only explanation I can come up with for my irrational belief that PL is a worse offender than BK is that the costs of BK’s lifestyle eventually caught up with him and NEW was a company born out of desperation .
PL on the other hand does it not because he has to but because he can . Clinically . PL is numerate whereas BK doesn’t seem to be .
The PL story keeps running whereas time seems to have run out for BK .

I remember back in 2011 i used to get torrents of abuse on the bulletin boards (LSE mainly but also WorldStocks) for daring to question the intentions and morals of the illustrious CEO of RRL! Even my last piece on the company advising a sell at 2.4p on the back of the very convenient ‘Georgia pump’ was met with howls of derision!
You only have to look at his history with RRL – such as his other company Komodo advising on the Trinidad purchase from Soca, instead of Monitor getting at, and many other cases of ‘conflict of interest’!
