QPP

Quindell: Buy, sell or Hold – this may surprise you

I see that over on Stockopedia* someone writing anonymously as a bull of Quindell (QPP) has slammed those who post anonymously suggestions that kit is a sell. Whatever… Mr Steamy001 (perhaps that is his real name?) also describes me as “one of Quindell most vocal detractors.” Hmmmm - I ask questions and perhaps that is viewed as a bad thing in some circles? But would I short the shares now, at 21p?

Comments

  1. An even handed article. I am an investor in QPP who has made and pocketed a 60% profit but still hold a meaningful number of shares. As I cannot ultimately lose I, like many others, will stay for the ride.

  2. wildrides

Great piece Tom ……… shows what you really think and the opinions you canvass and value . Very enlightening , and even handed, but non the less revealing for it .
I got in on the first crash at 8p and rode to plus 40 and out . On the second 18p in to 21p out and a little dalliance in the middle where I got burnt slightly from 25p down to 22.5 p
Now I am out as I could not see the upside from here (21p) unless we get a wave of BB moron sentiment to carry it back over 30p . With so many institutions involved that might not be possible . We might get a short squeeze when your shorting mates bail, but it will be hard to catch unless one watchs the screen all day . It seems to me the share is now fairly valued and my money should go else where for a while . However, delighted to get your candid views today as now I feel much more confident about the decision I have made with this share . Its been very profitable for me and the temptation is always to be too greedy in this game . I dont want to lose all my gains … drip …drip fashion . The heart says stay in and the brain says leave it alone now and dont be greedy !

  3. Likewise I appreciate this kind of even-handed, balanced article. This is the kind of journalism that I respect and am glad that it’s devoid of insult, personal attack etc. etc.

  4. You wouldn’t get sort of
balanced perspective from the BB morons. They really aren’t serving the genuine retail investor community well.

  5. I admit it. I’m the dumb money. Long in QPP following investment advise from a sexy Polish girl who got me drawn into the hype reading those bulletin boards. Since I’m now down 50k I’m now doing some serious overdue research. In fairness Tom on the 7th May you thought QPP was a sell. However, your latest output suggests fair value might be 25p. What’s changed in eight days? Whilst your concerns might have merit why do you suppose the smart money – the institutional investors – are holding, indeed buying in at these levels ? Consequentially, I’m firmly of the view that QPP can recover to 35p within the next few months. The personal attacks on you on the BB’s is disgraceful. Those people belong in North Korea.

  6. Well somewhere between (1) and (2) is what I think. I have not come across anyone with industry knowledge who thinks it is (3).

Where I differ is that even if (2), I would say that is worth 10-15x earnings. So on this year’s forecasts, there’s the 30-40p.

More generally, the fact that some followers appear naively enthusiastic does not automatically make it correct to be naively pessimistic. Reversed stupidity is not intelligence.

  7. wildrides

The thing is tho Guy ……… to be fair forecasts are forecasts and the whole collapse thing has been about suspension of belief of the numbers, ie unpaid debtors levels and the cash position relative to earnings . Lack of future visibility on those issues will hold the share back until the next audited accounts surely ?

  8. wildrides

    David
the institutions were buying in the 18 – 19 p area which is along way from 25 p you mention interms of what they are used to regards ftse100 shares and future gains . They will be happy to wait for years from their entry . They just cant get in and out like us on a whim . The numbers are just to massive and they would lose a fortune .

  9. Well according to either a broker and / or Quindell (can’t remember – though I am wary of what a broker claims about this) the cash flow should greatly improve in q4 this year. I think that’s what it will really take to start to win skeptics over.
