System1 Group – I have previously considered forecast upgrades needed, now a current outlook including “more downside than upside risk”!

Most recently writing on System1 Group (SYS1), last July with the shares at 735p I concluded that the comfortably above £90 million market capitalisation already discounted some strong progress from a, even pre-tax, £4.4 million profit and to avoid with the shares just on the watchlist. They most recently closed at 535p and now a “Trading Statement” highlighting year ended 31st March 2025 “revenue of £37.4m, +25% YoY… PBT £5.3m (FY24: £3.1m, +71% YoY)… Year-end cash £12.9m” and that it “strongly believe that with 25 years of advertising and innovation experience, and a methodology rooted in behavioural science, System1 is well placed to achieve our long-term goals”, so what of a currently further down share price at 465p?

System1 Group – board flustered by requisitioning former directors and Maynard Paton…

System1 Group (SYS1) has announced that it has received a communication from requisitioning shareholders Stefan Barden and James Geddes that it is required to pass on and that “rather than set out their arguments directly to shareholders, the requisitioning shareholders have provided a hyperlink to a 3rd party blog site belonging to Mr Maynard Paton who claims also to be a shareholder in the company”. It adds that “the board is of the opinion that the Blog Post reports (largely unchallenged) a number of statements made by Mr Barden in the interview and draws some incorrect conclusions”. Hmmm – Maynard Paton is a respected and highly experienced investor and investment writer, so what’s the company arguing?

SYS1

System1 Group – trading update demonstrating ‘right strategy, business model and management team’…or not?

System1 Group (SYS1) has issued a trading update which includes “delighted with the upturn in performance in the second half-year. The profitable growth in our standard, platform-based products in the US and elsewhere demonstrates that we have the right strategy, business model and management team”. So what of the strategy, business model and management team and a currently rising above 200p share price?

SYS1

System1 Group – strategic review, for growth reasons or not?

System1 Group (SYS1) has announced the appointment of Conrad Bona as a non-executive director, stating “his experience will further strengthen the board's skillset and will contribute to our future success”... though along with a “Review of strategic options”. So what’s going on?
