It seems that the truth about the bailout of Invinity (IES) is that it is not the triumph that conceited Andrew Monk of VSA and the other 2 brokers present – the price had to be slashed to get it away. Not that the brokers care or will admit to that is what is, therefore, a misleading RNS.
Before you laugh too much about my devastating bear call/warning of a bailout placing of less than six weeks ago when the shares were 21.75p, remember that three placings ago Andrew Monk, the City’s most conceited stockbroker, persuaded the grateful taxpayer to pony up half of a £56 million placing at 28p. The Tory green wet dream has met reality. The Government always makes Bernie Madoff’s biggest fan Nicola Horlick, look like Warren Buffett when it comes to stockpicking.
Batteries group Invinity Energy ( IES), a stockmarket abomination foisted on investors by the UK’s most conceited stockbroker Mr. Andrew Monk of VSA has today RNS’s the news that Ceri Morgan CBE, His Majesty's Trade Commissioner for Europe, visited the site of a partner company in Switzerland. Wow.
In recent weeks I have flagged up the demise of big green plays in Denmark HERE and Sweden HERE. Now, with a hat tip to Andrew Neil, comes news from Germany.
Gone are the glory days when Andrew Monk of VSA Capital (VSA) , where I am an unwitting shareholder, sipped champagne with Canadian fund managers purring that shares in his star client Invinity Energy (IES) were so cheap at 40p or more. Gone are the glory days of May this year when Monkey helped raise £ 57million at 23p. Today, just four months later, the shares have crashed to 13p after a shocking trading warning and with CEO Larry Zulch being “resigned” with immediate effect.
For months there has been a debate about how Invinity Energy (IES) would fill the looming black hole in its balance sheet. Today it has announced that it has raised £56 million at just 23p and may raise another up to £6.6 million in an open offer at the same price. So who called this one right and where next?
The bear case, as pushed by Evil Banksta, is that Invinity Energy Systems (IES) has a very full valuation even at 22.5p and that it will run out of cash by July so will have to do a placing, probably at a discount soon. The bull case is that if one makes long term extrapolations then on a DCF basis a market cap of £43 million is a bargain and that a strategic investor will bail Invinity out at a premium. I bring you two statements made by the company:
I suggested shorting green energy play Invinity Energy Systems (IES) at a 30.5p mid on January 22. The shares were 23.5p mid when this piece first appeared and are now 24.5p mid and I suggest you bank your gains. Let me explain.
At 30.5p mid, green energy play Invinity Energy Systems (IES) is capitalised at £60 million. Naturally, it is loss-making and has already managed to spaff the vast majority of the £21.9 million it raised about nine months ago. The only question is when will the bailout placing be? That it will have to be conducted at a material discount despite the best efforts of London’s most conceited broker, Andrew Monk, is a given.
