Most recently writing on UK and Ireland furniture retailer DFS (DFS), a year ago with the shares up to 146p I concluded I remained cautious on its financial position and to still avoid. It now emphasises in half-year ended 28th December 2025 results, “strong free cash flow generation and cash discipline reducing net bank debt to £60.6m, down over £100m over the last eighteen months with leverage of 0.8x (1.0x adjusting for working capital phasing) now within our 0.5x-1.0x target range. Recognising the group’s improved financial position an interim dividend of 1.0 pence / share has been declared”. So what about a current below 145p share price?
UK and Ireland furniture retailer DFS (DFS) has announced results for its half-year ended 29th December 2024 headlined “Compelling customer proposition & strong operational execution drives profit growth. Upgrade to full year profit expectations”. So how good are the results and outlook from a currently up to 146p share price?
Describing itself as “the clear market-leading retailer of living room furniture in the United Kingdom”, DFS Furniture (DFS) has issued a “Trading Statement” headlined “Improved performance driven by market share gains, lower operating costs and gross margin improvement”. How good is the news from a current 145p share price?
Describing itself as “the market leading retailer of living room and upholstered furniture in the United Kingdom”, DFS Furniture (DFS) has issued a “Pre Close Trading Statement”-titled announcement and what of the shares currently further lower to 108p?
Did you see the latest UK retail sales numbers out this morning? Whilst month-on-month sales in August were up 0.4% (versus the -1.2% fall a month earlier), the generally more insightful year-on-year statistic was down 1.4%. I guess the summer weather, holidays and the latest TV/internet excitements all had their impacts but, for me, the big multi-year deviation remains between value and volume. Yes, it matters whether you have pricing power or not. And this brings me onto yesterday’s set of numbers from DFS Furniture (DFS).
