SOLO

Memo to David Lenigas & Others: We do NOT sack our writers for having an opinion

David Lenigas is tweeting his upset with James Parter for having suggested that Solo Oil (SOLO) is a sell and has suggested that Mr Parter is likely to be sacked. Let me make this 100% clear to my friend Mr Lenigas and to other CEOs out there who think that I sack anyone for having an opinion. I will NEVER do that.

Comments

  1. I applaud your stance tom, you are quite correct. A free press able to express opinion is vital.

I do feel James’ article was quite poor, I note it has been edites to ‘sell’ rather than short now, which makes it a lot more credible.

  2. J

    thanks on free speech,

No editing – article is unch from when it was published – has always said sell. Promise!

  3. I thought DL had stopped tweeting after being called out by another tweeter about his false claims about 3D seismic having been completed for HH when it hadn’t. His cryptic tweets throughout the drill also added to the hype which crashed to earth when actually results started coming in. Perhaps DL would be better served censoring his own contributions which more likely have led to PIs actually losing money?

  4. Lenigas is a serial scallywag and liar. Tom;how you can describe him as a mate defies me. He usually comes up with the canard that we do not need to launch a placing a month before he does. Once he has handed over a company to a professional CEO then some of his companies are investable. But whilst he is involved keep well away.

  5. Jason, funny you should mention that as i was wondering if his views on investors being able to sue also stretched to company directors and the like making comments on social media sites that subsequently contributed to spikes in share price which small investors bought into and then got badly stung when the price dropped a lot…
I also find it strange that so many are only concerned about anything negative being written, yet it seems if you are positive you can say whatever you like and people will love you for it. Mention anything even vaguely negative though and you get slaughtered (I recently wrote a piece of FitBug and actually had it as a buy and mentioned lots of positives, but what most jumped on was the fact that I’d said it would dip short term and especially when the shares in issue pretty much doubled due to a recent placing and debt conversion coming onto the market on Dec 30)!

  6. I don’t believe David was trying to gag anyone, just emphasising his firm belief in SOLO, whose prospects are in my view, good, one must however accept that any E & P oiler is a gamble, not improved by the collapse in the oil price.

  7. “Lenigas is a serial scallywag and liar. “

    Bullseye, Adge!

  8. handybrownone

I don’t disagree with what Tom says but isn’t it foolish at least and starts to erode credibility when someone says that in 4 days time the share price will effectively half – it closed at 0.6 on Christmas Eve. I note the SP is now on the 31st Dec 0.79! Perhaps too much sherry and spending too much time with the in-laws? Certainly I’m not really interested in his long-tips for 2015. People only come back if at least what is written is credible. PERHAPS the weaknesses in his article are true but for them to play out in 4 days after Christmas – very very unlikely.

  9. Handybrownone

Er… read the title again! the Dec 31 referred to is 2015 not 2014 :)

Red faces at the browne house methinks

  10. handybrownone

oops – yes – OK that makes more sense. OK I will post again on 31 Dec 2015! I am just coming our of the festive fug.

  11. J P Spaghetti

And lest we forget Kevin Ashton – I wonder if he instigated legal proceedings personally in respect of his treatment and Canaworm’s seemingly fraudulent misrepresentation of its (Canaworm’s) activities…
